Socialite Paris Hilton has appealed the 45 day jail sentence handed down last week for violating the terms of her probation. This notice is the first in a series of steps the hotel heiress must take and it doesn’t guarantee that an appeal will take place. Also, Paris has rehired her publicist Elliot Mintz. He was reportedly sacked after he admitted responsibility for Paris’ misunderstanding about her driving priviledges.

In related news, Paris posted a message on her MySpace pleading with people to sign her petition to pardon her jail sentence. The petition is directed to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. I absolutely love her MySpace page!! It’s just a shame that she can’t spell…
