Kate Moss’s Rimmel Ads Banned

Kate Moss just can’t seem to cut a break when it comes to her work. Just recently she shot a campaign for Rimmel’s ‘Magnif’ eyes mascara for both print and TV. This product is said to give 70% more lift than the leading brand. Seems a few viewers filed some complaints after the ads aired that Moss is sporting fake eyelashes and the ads were misleading. After an extensive investigation, the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) have banned the ads due to Rimmel’s inability to prove that Moss was in fact NOT wearing fake eyelashes. Rimmel had admitted to retouching the shots *shock* which only added fuel to the claim that the ads were overall misleading and needed to be removed, or edited with disclaimers saying post production techniques had been used. Is anyone else shocked? I think what is more surprising to me is that MORE companies aren’t going through the same ordeal. But, does anyone REALLY think that the model visions we see promoting beauty products haven’t been retouched?
