Will Angelina Add a Golden Statue to Her Growing Brood?
All eyes have been on Angelina Jolie this past week while she has been spending a lot of time at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. And it’s not just eyes, as mouths have been wagging as well with this week marking the official announcement that Jolie is carrying twins this go-around. However, there may be brighter, and heavier things in store for her as after her premieres of ‘Changeling’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ at the Festival, whispers are swirling that a Golden Statue named Oscar is in Angelina’s future. Angelina worked on ‘Changeling’ with Clint Eastwood, and the response was overwhelming receiving the only standing ovation thus far at the Festival. Direction and Lead Actress are what people are saying this film will be a contender for. Reviewers are using the word ‘impressive’ even for Angelina, and that her performance was ‘top notch’. The movie, and her performance alike, are being described as powerful and searing, and it was the Los Angeles Times that touts her as a solid runner for the Best Actress nomination. To boot, Eastwood’s direction has been called flawless, making him a good runner for Best Director. If these pan out, it will be no surprise if ‘Changeling’ goes up for Best Picture as well, since Best Director films easily become good contenders for the Big prize at the end. Sounds like a must-see to me, and wow, given all this gossip swirling about her, we almost forgot this girl has talent!
