Last January Eva Mendes made headlines when she was shuttled off to the Cirque Lodge in
Utah for what the whispers were saying was a nasty drug abuse problem.   The year prior Eva had been working nonstop and was stretched about as thin as she could get from a professional standpoint, and the word was it all just got to her. She voluntarily checked herself into the Cirque Lodge but noone ever really found out the real reason for her rehab stint.  Her reps handled it very politically saying she just needed some time off, that it was a positive and proactive decision for her, and that Eva just needed some outside, professional support from the stress load she had been carrying.  Other than that, everyone was pretty mum about it, including Eva.  Now word is coming out that Eva may not have had a substance abuse problem at all, in fact, she was going to the Cirque Lodge for professional support yes, to get professional research accomplished for her next role.  Her next movie, ‘Queen of the South’ is about a woman who leaves Mexico to flee to
Spain when her drug runner boyfriend gets murdered. Sources are now wondering if Eva’s rehab time was spent doing research on the life of a drug addict. The Cirque Lodge is now famous for having sheltered Lindsay Lohan last year as well for bona fide drug issues, and they’ve also housed Mary Kate Olsen for her eating disorder.  Maybe Eva should have just had some one on one time with Lilo to save her the trouble, huh? Now wouldn’t you like to be a fly on THAT wall.

As far as comebacks go, Robert Downey Jr. is making one big time, and ever since his own highly publicized drug problems, he’s had a difficult time saving face and making acting his own again. That was at least until ‘Iron Man’ changed direction for him a little, and Tinseltown and
America soon, will see that he is still quite the talented actor.  In fact, of those who have seen his latest film ‘Iron Man’ he’s easily being touted as a bona fide action hero.  Which might explain why he’s been approached to give his ‘roundedness’ a little bit of a twist by playing Hugh Hefner in the upcoming ‘screen biopic’ called ‘Playboy’.  The
Chicago Sun reports that Hugh loves Downey Jr., and wants him to parlay his human and skill into life in the Playboy mansion. The film will be shot in
Chicago, where the Playboy magazine all started,  and production may begin as early as next summer.  However, Iron Man was such a hit that
Downey will be shooting a sequel very soon so there may be some conflict there. 
Downey reps say that he is ‘somewhat’ interested in the Playboy project but he won’t commit until he sees the final script, and a director is named. Well well, the Iron Man is finally in a position to be getting picky. I say good on him, it’s very exciting to see Downey Jr. back on the big screen and doing so well.

Michelle Williams has been way under the radar since the highly publicized and tragic death of her ex- Heath Ledger this past winter. Heath was also the father to her only daughter, Matilda, and it is no secret that Michelle was grieving him quite heavily. She has been throwing herself in her work, and it looks like it has paid off. Michelle was excited to have a chance to see her work on-screen in the red carpet premieres at the Cannes Film Festival. Michelle was there to premiere ‘Wendy and Lucy’ and also ‘Synedoche, New York’, a Charlie Kaufman flick co-starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener. During her time in Cannes, Michelle offered her first public interview since the death of Heath Ledger, and though she didn’t say much, it is nice to see her sparkling for a change. She talked about how great it felt to have two films going up at the same time, and how excited she was to be in Cannes at the Festival. She says it will be a great thing to look back on later in life. For the Festival, Michelle had to get reprieve from Martin Scorcese, who is currently directing her next piece of work ‘Shutter Island’ that she is filming in Boston, but that didn’t seem to be a problem. At the Festival, Michelle was all smiles and chatting happily, and with all of this work behind and ahead, her fans will be happy to see her in action again very soon.

Here is Jennifer Lopez a while back at the infamous Met Costume Institute Gala. She’s taking a quickie break from mommy duty to enjoy some downtime at the Gala with husband Marc Anthony. Jennifer has always been curvy, but even so you would never guess that only recently she gave birth to twins as she is looking nothing less than spectacular these days. Mind you, if you are wondering why you haven’t seen much of her at all, it’s because she is seriously concentrating on family right now. Both she and husband Marc have told their managers the next year is all about family, so Jennifer will not be working too much, nor will you see her as often. The couple had hired a nanny to help out with the newborn twins, but it is reported that the nanny quit after only a month on the job. Instead of hiring a new nanny, J-Lo dove in and went hands on full-time with twins Max and Emme. Poor girl must be exhausted, though she will never let us see her sweat.

Here is Hilary Duff taking a break Hollywood style with some serious shopping on the famous celeb hangout Robertson Boulevard. Hilary has been quite the busy girl lately, so where does she find the time to get some plastic meltdown in?? She’s been on the promo circuit for her latest movie ‘War Inc’ and recently appeared on the Tonight Show with David Leno to promote her movie. Almost minutes after her interview, Hilary jetted off to Boca Raton, Florida to help some children in need. She visited Boca Raton Elementary School in order to help them launch their ‘Boca Blessings in a Backpack’ program, a program that will help meet nutritional needs of disadvantaged children and families over the weekends. Hilary was ecstatic to be a part of something so important, and it looks like her celebrity appearance was well worth the effort. The program in all obtained over $50,000 in donations that will provide food for the elementary students in Boca Raton. Aw, she’s cute, talented, and she has a big heart. No surprise there.
