Shia LaBeouf Not Exactly Off the Hook Yet

Shia LaBeouf is seen here with his Transformers 2 co-star Isabel Lucas, just days after the pair were in the highly publicized car crash where Shia was found to be not so sober at the time of the accident. Isabel was Shia’s passenger at the time and suffered some minor injuries, while Shia required surgery to his hand as a result, and you can see here how badly Shia’s hand was affected. During the accident, a car ran a red light and collided with Shia’s Ford 150 pickup truck, rolling Shia’s truck which caused their injuries. Because another driver ran the light, at the time Shia was not found to be at fault, despite the fact that he ran positive on the breathalyzer test. Shia was charged with DUI but not for the cause of the accident. It seems that Shia may have hit a stroke of luck there, as DUI causing bodily harm is MUCH more significant from a legal perspective than DUI, but if Shia was breathing a sigh of relief about that, he may have to hold his breath. According to California law, if a driver in an accident is found guilty of a DUI, whether they caused the accident or not, they can still be placed as the blame for the accident. If the Los Angeles police go full throttle with the DUI charge then, Shia will be considered automatically at fault for the accident. Thus, it will be the other driver who will get a by for reckless driving on this one, and not Shia. Transformers 2 producer Michael Bay is defending Shia saying his drinking had occurred HOURS and HOURS before and that he wasn’t drunk at the time. The lies around the celebrity lives is astonishing. Let’s protect the celebs instead of those helpless drivers out there who could be hurt at their hands. Why aren’t people taking a bigger stance on this? Drinking and driving SUCKS and so does anyone that engages in that. I think Shia is a talented actor, but you know…I’m kinda hoping he gets nailed here.
