Here is Leighton Meester, the girl you love to hate on the hit prime time drama Gossip Girls as she arrives at the Zac Posen Fashion Show in Bryant Park, Manhattan this week. And yes, just as she is on screen, Leighton has some weaknesses when it comes to pretty things with designer labels, and she is catering to these sensitivities during New York Fashion Week. And if you thought that she looks much squeakier and much cleaner in real life than she does as the evil girl on Gossip Girl, then you may be mistaken, or not. It sounds like a history in prison for Leighton Meester has come out of the woodworks, though rest assured it is not NEARLY as bad as it sounds. No no, Leighton doesn’t have a prison record or anything of the sorts, but in fact, her mother does. And Leighton has spent time in prison, but she won’t be able to tell you anything about it, because it is doubtful that she remembers. Leighton was born in prison actually when her mom gave birth to her in prison. Her mom was doing time for some kind of illegal drug enterprise that she had going and thus, Leighton was born in prison, and then raised by a relative while her mom finished her sentence. And it wasn’t just her mom. From the sounds of it, this was a family operation, as her father, her grandfather, and her aunt were also jailed at one point or another for dealing with controlled substances. So, you know what they say, looks can definitely be deceiving as this Gossip Girl definitely does not look like someone with a shady past or family. Mind you, she has clearly risen above all of that and shown her family that hard work and determination really are the keys to success. And good on her for it!
