This interview took place approximately one month before Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that was also fought and survived by her mother. Knowing that her mom struggled with the disease, Christina has had a watchful eye on her health and has undergone annual mammograms as a preventive measure. Early this summer, as we all know, one of those tests came back worse than worse, and she was given the diagnosis of breast cancer. Christina who is 36 has said since her diagnosis that she is just glad that she caught it early and attacked it aggressively, as her treatment involved a double mastectomy. Since then, she has awed and inspired millions all over the world as she appeared on Good Morning America to announce her cancer free status, and this just only a couple of months following MAJOR surgery. Christina continued to show the world that she wasn’t letting the C bomb drag her down and has also appeared on the recent ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ event that was aired on all major networks on September 5th. And as if that wasn’t enough to show the world that Christina is no party pooper, the girl brushed herself off and went back to work. Yep. She is back on the set of her hit prime time show ‘Samantha Who’ and well past the stage of saying to hell with cancer. And THIS is why she is my hero. The strength and the inspiration she will provide to millions of other women that are struggling with the same disease is awe inspiring in the most obvious understatement of the century.
