Britney Spears Is Already Breaking Records
Well, it’s only been a couple of weeks, and Britney Spears and her single ‘Womanizer’ are already breaking records. If you’re a Hills fan, you will understand why as the song has been featured in a recent episode, but you had to know that when Britney decided to make her comeback, she meant business. And she not only came back, but she is kicking the a**es of all of her competition. This week, Britney’s single broke a Billboard record when it jumped 95 spots! Yep, 95 spots, moving Womanizer from 96 to that’s right, Numero Uno. This makes Britney’s return to the number 1 spot the first time since Baby One More Time came out in 1999. Not too shabby. The jump to the top of the ladder for Womanizer comes after a first week of sales, with Internet download sales of ‘Womanizer’ hitting 286,000 in its opening week, a tally that Mariah Carey didn’t even make. It could be that Britney’s success is spurned by curiosity, folks want to know if she is really doing that well so are buying into the comeback single and album, but when you are a pop artists taking money to the bank, how or why it goes in there really doesn’t matter. But sadly, it is not all good times for Britney. This week jury selection is starting for her August 2007 driving charge where she was charged for driving without a license and ended up hitting a parked vehicle. Yep, in California, most people just pay a fine for the misdemeanour and promise never to do it again. But when you are Britney Spears and there are some folks out there that want you to pay the piper, you get a jury trial. A jury trial over a misdemeanour. Phew Boy. The State of California must have a whooooole lotta coin to throw around if they are wasting dimes on this.
