Madonna is seen here in what was probably one of her last public events with her now estranged husband, Guy Ritchie. The two appeared together at the Punchbowl Pub in Mayfair to celebrate Guy’s 40th birthday. And unbeknownst to us, this appearance together was just that, an appearance, as by this time, they had already decided they were done for good and were just ‘making face’ for the public. Now, as we know, the couple have filed for divorce and are fighting their way through what might be one of Hollywood’s ugliest divorce battles. It’s gotten so ugly that the two are throwing out public and heinous accusations about the other. Madonna is saying that he cheated on her, Guy is saying that she’s spying on him, and he’s also accused her of acting out in rage. Yet despite the one ugly accusation after another, the two have at least remembered that there are children involved, and it sounds like Madonna is being proactive, as far as one of Guy’s accusations is concerned. Should it ever get to an ugly custody suit, which it well may, Madonna is working to ensure that she is not seen as the raging spy bull that Guy is painting her out to be. Instead, she is seeking anger management help through her Kabbalah religion in order to soothe her emotions and give herself some peace throughout the entire processes. She is seeking counselling through the Kabbalah center in New York City to help her cope with her anger towards Guy and his cold treatment towards her during their marriage. This may be the sanest thing we have heard come out of this ugly divorce situation, which proves yet again that of the two, Madonna is clearly the one with a solid head on her shoulders and is taking proactive steps in the right direction.

And, when it comes to the differences between working on television or for the big screen, Jessica says that with TV it’s much more organized and this made her a little uptight. When working on film, the overall feel is much more improvisational and relaxed. She was thrilled then when she got the part for ‘The Illusionist’ and enjoyed it immensely. And yes, Jessica even dished with Marie Claire about her looks, and the ever present notion of keeping them youthful as long as possible. With any Tinseltown beauty, aging is one of her biggest fears, she worries over the littlest aches and pains and changes that come with aging. But if you think that this beauty is ever going under the knife to keep that pretty smile smooth and fresh, think again.

And even though she is somewhat of a high profile these days, she says she’s Zen about it because you have to be, otherwise one would go crazy. And if you are wondering how she spends her personal time? Yes, she definitely makes time for that. She even goes back and forth about marriage and children, but thinks of it in an organic sense. If it’s right at the right time in her life, it will happen. Right now though, these issues seem a little foreign to her. Anne Hathaway is seen here greeting her public outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday night after she taped an episode for the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’. Anne is currently in New York on the promotion circuit for her new movie ‘Rachel Getting Married’. And from the sounds of it, the success of her movie is not the only thing putting a smile on this pretty fashionista’s face, as Anne, and the rest of the world, has just received news that her former ex Raffaello Follieri has received four and a half years in prison for charges on cheating and fraud against investors for millions of dollars. Her ex had claimed that he had Vatican connections and this was enabling him to purchase Roman Catholic Church property at bargain basement prices. The number of charges against Anne’s ex were numerous, and at the time, there were even rumors that Anne had something to do with his arrest, and landing him back on US soil for the arrest. It seemed a little too coincidental that his arrest and their breakup happened almost simultaneously. Nonetheless, he was charged and sentenced and had a few words left to say to the public before he was carted off to the clink:

I dishonoured my family name and embarrassed the church I love. I’ll never be able to wash away that stain, and I will have to live with it the rest of my life. I just hope someday those who have been hurt by my actions can forgive me.

And, given that he sounds a little reticent and guilty over the matter, and that the charges against him were huge and numerous, it sounds like a plea may have been copped because I think many were surprised that he only ended up with four and a half years. I mean, claiming that you are the Vatican’s chief financial officer must have some repercussions. Money that he laundered was not used for charity purposes as was his original defense, and it has come to light that he spent it on personal expenses, flowers, cosmetics, clothes, expensive wine and meals, yacht rentals, a $37,000 a month condo, vacations, and presents for both his parents and Anne. Yet despite all this, he only gets 4 ½ years. Though Anne may be smiling over revenge, she must be a little bitter about that outcome. Hopefully though for her sake, this will all be behind her in a New York minute.

As predicted, things are getting worse before they are getting better for either party in the Mr. and Mrs. Madonna divorce battle. When you are dealing with assets and estates the size of theirs, it is bound to. This may even rival the ugliness of the Paul McCartney/Heather Mills battles that still leave a foul taste in many mouths. The two have reached the inevitable lows where they accuse each other of anything and everything in the most public way possible. First we have Mr. Madonna, Guy Ritchie claiming that Madonna is going all KGB on him and spying on his every move. Apparently she knew of a private dinner he had with his family to discuss the pending divorce and well, guess he forgot that even though he’s Mr. Madonna, he’s still in the public eye and these things are bound to get out. But Madonna is accusing him also of having relationships with a certain 6 foot model (Tanya Strecker) one that was going on when the couple met, and she says, has continued into the marriage. She’s also accused him of only marrying her for her money and has said that, were it not for her assets, he would have stayed with Tanya and married her instead. And again, the couple does not have a pre-nuptial agreement, so we are talking a very sizable settlement on the table here, if Madonna can prove that he has been unfaithful, Guy’s sizable settlement shrinks with every shred of evidence she can pull up. So if she’s going KGB on him, more power to her I say, she’s only protecting what is actually hers since she pulled in about 95% of their marital assets. And….if he’s getting snaky about being spied on, perhaps that could be because he has something to hide. Because innocent people that get spied on, don’t generally act with outrage over a simple family dinner. They may get irked that their privacy is invaded, but the standard response for the innocent is ‘go ahead, I have nothing to hide’. Soo…if we are going to be keeping track here, I would say Madonna has garnered a few points in being proactive and smart, whereas Guy well…he’s acting a little squirrely to be all that innocent. He defends himself by saying ‘this is a divorce, not the Cold War’ and also says that what were once hopes of a dignified and quiet divorce are out the window. Yet he has been the least quiet of the two parties. And hello, quiet divorce? Did he FORGET who he was married to? Hm. This is only beginning, there’s still a whole lotta time before the anticipated Christmas finalization, so again….expect some more bloodshed in the interim.

This I am finding is actually a very cute story. Though this pairing is right in line with Hollywood’s latest accessory, the ex factor, it is very sweet and touching to see good things come out of a tragedy. Mandy Moore is seen here at the CFDA Awards showing the world that she has got the whole package. And though she and DJ AM made an unlikely pair last year, they have since rekindled their relationship. Which just goes to show that true ‘love’ comes in many different forms. Mandy and DJ AM had a little fling back in 2007, but it sounds like it may have been more than a fling, as a seed for genuine concern for each other was planted way back in the day. When DJ AM was involved in the tragic plane crash with Travis Barker, a crash that killed all other passengers on board, the seed planted back then began to grow. Mandy Moore rushed to his side at the Augusta Burn Unit in Georgia, and though DJ is out of the hospital and continues recovery, she has stayed at his side. And DJ AM confirms the budding romance saying simply that ‘It’s back on.’ He says since the accident, their former relationship has blossomed into something again. And Mandy says:

I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.

Yes, many many times we have heard stories about tragedies bringing people together, because as Mandy says, they remind us about how short and precious life really is. And obviously, something real is going on between the two or they would not have come to this conclusion. And the two aren’t shy about it either, unlike other Tinseltown pairs who hush hush about their love until months into it. The PDA meter has been off the charts whenever they’ve been spotted in public. Friends of DJ AM think this is genuine and are happy that some good has come out of his troubles. They say when you go through what he did, you need people you love, and people who love you, and that DJ AM will never stop loving her. My thoughts are that this one will be one that will stand the test of at least some time, and it’s a beautiful thing.
