William Balfour Arrested in Hudson Murders

Well, it sounds like Jennifer Hudson can rest her head, at least a little bit stress free these days as there has been an arrest in the case involving the murders of her mom, brother, and 7 year old nephew. Though formal charges have not been officially laid, William Balfour has been arrested in the slayings of Jennifer’s family members and he is in police custody. He was being held in an Illinois state prison on charges stemming from a parole violation, and this was keeping him at bay while investigators gathered up the necessary evidence to lay charges.
The history here is that Balfour was married to Jennifer’s sister, and they were recently separated. But parole violation is not his only claim to fame, as William has a very long rap sheet. He has already served time for attempted murder as well as car hijacking, and is just well, an overall not very great guy. He and Julia, Jennifer’s sister have been married since 2006 and initially the entire family lived as one big happy family together. But contentious issues started when money issues arose along with infidelities and constant problems that led to Balfour ultimately being thrown out of the family home.
As a result, he got a little angry shall we say, and threats against Julia, and her family were voiced loud and clear. Other than that, no motives for the murders have been disclosed, but the Chicago Tribune reports that on the morning of the murder, Julia reported for work as a school bus driver, and found out that her paycheck had been taken in order to make payments on a car that William had taken earlier that day. Her next call was of course to her husband, and he returned to the home while Julia was still at work, and well, sadly, the rest is history. The reconstructed events are that he fired a gun through the front door and first shot Jason Hudson, Jennifer’s brother. Darnell, Jennifer’s mom, was then shot when she entered the living room to see the commotion.
When Julia arrived home at 3:00 P.M. she found her son missing and her family fatally shot. As we know, her son’s body was found 3 days later and the police have been holding Balfour under parole violations, but he has been their primary person of interest for the entire case. As it stands how, he faces three counts of first degree murder, and we won’t expect to see him in public any time soon. This is so so sad, but it is good that Jennifer is getting at least a little bit of resolution in the matter. Our hearts go out to the Hudson family at this time.
