The fabulous Kate Hudson is seen here with the almost as fabulous Anne Hathaway as the two film scenes for their movie ‘Bride Wars’. As you can imagine by the title, the movie is about a bridely situation where two best friends, Anne and Kate inadvertently book their wedding for the same day. And both of these actresses have had quite the time of it in terms of their personal lives so perhaps they were able to use that to add some angst to their characters. Anne was engaged to a con artist and endured a very public breakup, and you know, when breakups involve the FBI it can never be a good thing. When they involve the FBI and the media, you have to know there will be some bitterness to contend with. As for Kate, well, she has pretty much dated everyone in Hollywood at least once, and many of them she’s taken a second hit at, and she also has experience in the marriage realm through former husband Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. You would think that both of these women would be a little bitter about marriage, but Anne insists that she still has the ideal of the fairy tale romance and still wants to ‘have it all’ one day. Kate on the other hand says that she highly doubts she will ever take that stroll down the aisle again. She says she really can’t say 100% but that she doubts it and that ‘it depends on who you end up with’. Uh yeah, do you think? I mean, ending up with the ‘right’ person is kind of *the point* of marriage is it not? Kate was married in 2000 but divorced her husband in 2007 and the two share a four year old son Ryder. Nonetheless, though Kate has some not so great thoughts about marriage, she has nothing but great things to say about her ex husband Chris.

I don’t regret a second of my marriage. Thank God for Chris. He made me partly who I am. We had a great time. We love each other deeply. We have an amazing son.

But if she ever did meet that elusive One, does Kate think she would change anything? Yes, she’d go on a honeymoon. Last time she got married she didn’t get to go on one because it was Christmas and she had to go to work. But that’s the only thing she would change. Maybe that and actually finding the right guy this time.

Anne Hathaway is seen here greeting her public outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday night after she taped an episode for the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’. Anne is currently in New York on the promotion circuit for her new movie ‘Rachel Getting Married’. And from the sounds of it, the success of her movie is not the only thing putting a smile on this pretty fashionista’s face, as Anne, and the rest of the world, has just received news that her former ex Raffaello Follieri has received four and a half years in prison for charges on cheating and fraud against investors for millions of dollars. Her ex had claimed that he had Vatican connections and this was enabling him to purchase Roman Catholic Church property at bargain basement prices. The number of charges against Anne’s ex were numerous, and at the time, there were even rumors that Anne had something to do with his arrest, and landing him back on US soil for the arrest. It seemed a little too coincidental that his arrest and their breakup happened almost simultaneously. Nonetheless, he was charged and sentenced and had a few words left to say to the public before he was carted off to the clink:

I dishonoured my family name and embarrassed the church I love. I’ll never be able to wash away that stain, and I will have to live with it the rest of my life. I just hope someday those who have been hurt by my actions can forgive me.

And, given that he sounds a little reticent and guilty over the matter, and that the charges against him were huge and numerous, it sounds like a plea may have been copped because I think many were surprised that he only ended up with four and a half years. I mean, claiming that you are the Vatican’s chief financial officer must have some repercussions. Money that he laundered was not used for charity purposes as was his original defense, and it has come to light that he spent it on personal expenses, flowers, cosmetics, clothes, expensive wine and meals, yacht rentals, a $37,000 a month condo, vacations, and presents for both his parents and Anne. Yet despite all this, he only gets 4 ½ years. Though Anne may be smiling over revenge, she must be a little bitter about that outcome. Hopefully though for her sake, this will all be behind her in a New York minute.

Ah yes, the style icons in Tinseltown have been waiting on pins and needles this week for the long awaited annual 10 Best Dressed Stars list of People Magazine. Hmm….who do you think made the cut? You will probably notice that there are few if any surprises, but let’s keep in mind there are only 10 slots to fill, and yes, I am sure there was some disappointment in Hollywood once the names were announced. Not surprisingly at all, Sarah Jessica Parker hit the list for probably her umpteenth year in a row, and was chosen due to her ‘expert eclectic style’ and I love that. Anne Hathaway has been wowing designers ever since she broke it big in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and she made the cut, along with Charlize Theron, Rihanna, Eva Mendes, and of course Kate Hudson. Heidi Klum hit the list for being ‘Model Chic’ and one surprise I noted was Fergie, who was described as a ‘Refined Rocker’. I don’t think she has any style ‘issues’ per se, however, she wouldn’t make a top 10 in my books. Another surprise came from Gwyneth Paltrow’s appearance on the list, and she was chosen for her evolution in the fashion world this year, having ‘revved up her classic look’ as we see here now less preppy and more in the thigh baring mini dresses and mongo heels. What DID surprise me the most was seeing Michelle Obama’s name appear, and her style was defined as ‘Classy and Confident’ and again, though I am not saying she is not a very well dressed lady, there were a few Tinseltown style queens that were probably a little pouty about being beat out by Michelle Obama. Those pouts I am sure are hanging on the lips of Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes, two infamously impeccably styled women that well….just didn’t make the cut this year. Sorry girls. Better luck next year.

Well, we can only hope that this is the end of the insanity that Anne Hathaway has been experiencing since news of her con fiancé came to light. Raffaello Follieri was arrested and charged earlier this year on charges of conspiracy, money laundering, and fraud. Anne was right in the thick of it all, and was a victim of his nasty ways and it is said that she had something to do with getting him arrested, as their split came only two weeks before an arrest by the FBI was made early in the summer. As it stands now. Raffaello has developed a plea agreement to serve prison time, and he will be sentenced October 3rd. He has admitted in the plea that he tricked investors to purchase Catholic properties, and has also admitted to wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy to launder funds, and an overall ‘misappropriation’ of funds to the tune of $2.4 million dollars. He has been in jail since his arrest in June, since, well, he couldn’t get his hands on his $21 million dollar bail bond, and thus won’t even have a few extra weeks of freedom before he is taken off for his sentence. His sentence will involve at least five years in prison, and his current time served will more than likely be included in that. As far as misappropriation of funds, I doubt that many will have a difficult time wondering where it went, since his lifestyle matches the dollar signs accordingly. He held a $37 thousand dollar a month penthouse at Trump Tower, and well over $2 million dollars in jewelry assets. Part of his agreement will force him to hand over his assets and jewelry, and he will also be ordered additional financial restitution. It looks like Raffiello is not going to be a happy camper for a very long time, in fact, jail time will probably be the BEST of his days to come. And, by the sounds of it, Anne’s revenge has been exacted and hopefully she can now breathe a final sigh of relief and get on with her life.
