Well it sounds like Anne Hathaway is experiencing what ex girlfriends experience when they are connected to bad, evil men. Anne has been in the public eye even more than usual these days given that her ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri has been charged with 11 counts of fraud and money laundering, all with some very big dollar amounts behind them. Because of her close connection to the con man, Anne’s private diaries that she wrote in during her relationship with Raffaello have been seized by the Federal Bureau Investigation as part of their investigation into the $6.08 million dollar fraud dealings he was involved with. Her diaries have been confiscated, as have many photographs of the two, along with watches, documents, an antique Bible, and a Tiffany clock. Anne has not been charged with anything, and the FBI believes she has cut all ties with Raffaello but the timing of it all is a little suspicious. The fact that she broke up with him at around precisely the same time as all this came down is raising some eyebrows, even Raffaello’s who though broken hearted believes she had something to do with his arrest. At the time of the arrest, Raffaello was in Europe working on a deal, probably a fraudulent one, and Anne kept calling him to come see her in New York. He didn’t have to come, as he knew he was being investigated, but she said she wanted to resolve their future. With so much engagement talk between the two before this, Raffaello met his beloved’s wishes and came to New York where he was arrested within a few days. So perhaps Anne does know more than we’ve been told, and if so, she may even have immunity if she was the one that orchestrated his arrest. We may never know, but hopefully she is making the best of cutting her losses early and moving on with her life as well as she can.

Here is Anne Hathaway on the set of ‘Bride Wars’ in New York, kind of looking like she’s had better days. She was seen here texting and fooling with her bags while she waited for hair and makeup. Not that it seems that she needs it with her wholesome good looks. And yes this is one girl that has developed quite a reputation for down home wholesome goodness. Could she be texting ‘I hate you’ notes to her ex boyfriend? It seems he’s gotten himself into a nice vat of hot water and tarnished her armor a little bit. Anne has spent a lot of time dishing to magazines like InStyle that she was madly in love with her now ex, Raffaello Follieri, and even thought wedding bells were in the future, and this was not all that long ago. She’s recently dumped him now that he’s been arrested on five counts of money laundering and six counts of wire-fraud as well as a conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Raffaello is a well known financier in the European world, as well as a man of the cloth, and used his ‘stellar’ reputation to say he was the CFO of the Vatican in order to scoop up low cost Catholic schools for his real estate empire. He also tested positive for opiate narcotics in a routine drug test. The legalities are complicated, but he’s facing life in prison and is now being held for 21 million dollars bail. And he had a lovely four year relationship with Anne that came to a screeching halt last week. Though the reps say the split was amicable, how can it be given that the split was timed with all of his criminal allegations. Hmmm. While Anne is obviously not to blame for any of it, her pure reputation does seem a little smudged now, doesn’t it?

I never thought that I’d see the day when the star of the Princess Diaries, the geeky princess of Genovia, Mia Thermopolis, would be snapped performing a lewd act on her boyfriend in public! I guess it’s sorta the same type of disbelief that I felt when I found out the tooth-fairy was make-believe. Here’s the still goofy, but grown-up Anne Hathaway spending the day with her uber rich BF on a yacht in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy. I sure hope the guy next to them doesn’t wake up anytime soon!
