Sadly Spartacus Star, Andy Whitfield, died Sunday September 11, 2011 due a losing battle against non-hodkins lymphoma! We are saddened to hear of such news and hope the best for his family and friends. The 39-year-old leaves behind his wife, Vashti, two children, and a sister.

Andy Whitfield rose to stardom on the first season of the Stars Original Series ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’! But after filming of the first season came to find out he had lymphoma. A second sesason was filmed as a Pre-Quel to Season One, hoping on a recovery of Whitfield for a third Season!

No, no, this isn’t Eva caught reading Tony Parker’s text messages, this picture is what we call irony. When Eva was playing a fake crying scene during a fight with her husband on the set of Desperate Housewives. Because as you well knew, there is more to the story…and it ain’t as pretty as she is, even when she’s fake crying. Basketball bride Erin Marie Barry claims she hadn’t even heard that she was the other woman in Eva Longoria’s split from Tony Parker. Between struggling through a divorce, studying for law school, saving child abuse victims and who knows what else (would it kill her to knit some vests for orphaned pandas?), she just hasn’t had the time for such petty matters as the international sullying of her reputation. She’s now officially responded on her website, and she wants you to know she’s annoyed. And pissy. Don’t forget pissy.

“I DID NOT HAVE AN AFFAIR WITH TONY PARKER, nor did I ‘pursue’ Tony Parker. Unfortunately, because our divorces are occurring at the same time, great speculation has been cast on our friendship. My friendship with Tony Parker had nothing to do with the end of my marriage (which is painful enough without this added drama), and to assume that we had an affair is naïve, ridiculous, and completely misguided.”

Eva decided to divorce her husband of three years after she found hundreds of text messages between him and one of their friends, some of which were eyebrow-raisingly adult in nature. But whether or not that friend was Erin, who is currently divorcing San Antonio Spurs player Brent Barry, the basketball ex didn’t get into. She also noted that having to address the gossip was an “annoyance,” as she is a very busy lady who barely has time to answer all of her dirty text messages let alone respond to the gossip hounds.

“I am so busy with my children and law school studies that to take even a few moments out of my day to address this ludicrous issue is an annoyance. I only take the time to explain myself because apparently my silence, as a result of my indifference, has been construed as an admission of guilt. These are my words and this is the last you will hear from me on this subject because I have more important things to do.”

Ya! You know how those Sudokus pile up. Eva and Tony haven’t had nearly as much to say since Eva filed for divorce on November 17. Eva’s pal, Mario Lopez, had an update, saying she was “devastated” but “strong,” like someone in a Cher song. She was seen out for lunch with Tony at Santa Monica’s Shutters on the Beach, but nobody’s getting their hopes up. “It was just a friendly lunch to work out the details of the divorce,” a source told Us. Apparently sometimes a salad is just a salad. Aw. And I kind of had my hopes up there. *sigh*

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds announced they were splitting up last week because they just couldn’t coordinate their schedules. Maybe they should have given it another week. They were seen out for dinner in New York City on Saturday night, laughing it up like they didn’t just break our hearts. No really, it’s fine. But what’s the deal? Is this one of those celebrity separations that makes headlines, creates PR, and means nothing? Or are we saving that for the Cox Arquette family? What’s going on? Is it possible that two formerly married people could still break up, and be seen happy in public together? Well, once again, let’s not forget these are actors, who know full well the cameras are on them, and even more so now than ever. As far as this smiley happy dinner, our friend Close Source was talking to People about it.
“They were smiling and laughing the whole time. They just wanted to connect and have a friendly chat. They just wanted to sit down together. The tone was light and fun.”

Scarlett had just gotten back from Jamaica, where she was seen hanging out with girlfriends and reading Vanity Fair. Ryan was in Atlanta filming The Change-Up, a rom-com where Ryan does some body switching, à la Freaky Friday. In Jamaica, Scarlett was wearing her wedding ring, prompting me gossips to speculate she was holding a torch for Ryan in her heart, but its bright light was being muffled by her cleavage. Alas, the sources will not have anyone getting their hopes up. “This isn’t them reconciling,” the source tells People. “This was just two people who were married being civil and friendly.” It’s good timing for a dinner. The gossip was starting to get a little catty. Someone had told People that, at 26, Scarlett is “young, and that played into how she’s able to deal with things,” as if, at 34, Ryan the wise old guru is stroking his beard and unlocking the secrets to the universe. So, if nothing else, meeting up and talking honestly is probably a better plan than Googling themselves and crying. And for those that still aren’t sure, meeting up and talking is one thing formerly married couples do, even on the eve of separation, it’s called the “Assets Division” talk. Just ask Eva Longoria. We aren’t wasting time with hopes on this one, as much as we want to.

Poor thing. Let’s show her what we see, shall we, in hopes of clarifying things for her. While the whole world is pretending to not care that Jake Gylennhaal and Taylor Swift are unofficially official, Gwyneth Paltrow is just acting confused about the whole thing. Let’s not forget she’s won one of the most esteemed prizes in acting, you don’t get Best Actress Oscars for nuthin. But nonetheless, Gwyneth Paltrow won’t take credit for creating the sticky sweet goodness that is The Jake And Taylor Super Alliance Of Cuddles. But she will take credit for serving them dinner. She confirmed that Jake and Taylor joined her and Chris Martin at Coldplay Manor in London last month. When told Us Weekly had reported on the dinner (the magazine quoted a source who said, “Gwyneth seems to have played a role in [Jake and Taylor’s] relationship”) Gwyneth was baffled. “Where is this coming from?” she said when asked about it by USA Today. “I’ve just known Jake for a long time and he’s a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor.” Gwyneth and Jake starred together in 2005’s little-seen math drama Proof, while Chris and Taylor… do each other’s hair? Chris still has hair, right? The much discussed dinner was on November 13, and Jake and Taylor were first seen together at an apple orchard outside New York on October 23. So dinner at Gwyneth’s wasn’t their first date, and Gwyneth won’t say if she was secretly the behind-the-scenes cupid before that. “Well, I’m scared to say,” she said. “It’s so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don’t know why it would come out today.” Just like all the butlers, chauffeurs and gardeners don’t know why they would be fired today!

Vanessa Hudgens is seen here posing for pictures at the L.A. premiere of Legends of the Guardians, and we want her to know, Kim Kardashian called and wants her pose back. But Vanessa has to put a little thang on, as it sounds she is doing so in splitsville. But she’s okay, don’t worry. Just in case anyone missed Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron breaking up, the High School Musical star was sending out the single-girl vibes at her 22nd birthday party in Las Vegas on Saturday. Accompanied by her wingwomen, Hairspray star Brittany Snow and Ashley Tisdale of nose-job fame, Vanessa was flashing grown-girl poses ripped from the Kardashian playbook. When asked about Zac, who it was revealed earlier this month she’d split from after four years, People reports she gave a thumbs up and said, “we’re good.” Also good: a three-foot, three-tiered red velvet cake, which Vanessa took pictures with, although she wasn’t photographed taking actual bites.

It’s a picture cake, not an eating cake! Vanessa was last seen dancing up on the couch in the V.I.P. quarters at Pure, before the curtains were drawn early, according to People. Maybe she then pulled out the High School Musical sing-a-long video game and giggled long into the night, but I doubt it. I’m not saying this party was some sort of depraved, Miley Cyrus-on-salvia orgy. But now that Vanessa’s moving on from Zac and entering her Vegas birthday party years, it looks like she’s ready to graduate from some of that High School Musical good-girl baggage too. As with any Hollywood split, we can only wonder who will be Vanessa’s next victim. Uh boyfriend. Wondering is one thing, caring is another of course.
