Jennifer Hudson New Baby Boy, David Daniel Otunga Jr., was born on Monday August 10, 2009.

Although Jennifer had not confirmed her pregnancy, rumors started to circulate after she sang at Michael Jackson’s memorial service. David Daniel Otunga Jr. weighed 7 lbs., 14 oz.

Isn’t it funny how celebrity pregnancies work? In some cases you have celebrities that seem to stay pregnant until their eleventh trimester, like Ashlee Simpson. And in other cases, you have celebrities that announce their pregnancy and then seem to have their baby the following week. This is how I feel about Jenn Garner and Ben Affleck as it seems this pregnancy has just zoooomed by. Here is Ben Affleck taking his pregnant wife Jennifer Garner for a brief visit to Cedars Sinai Hospital, though why they were stopping in is unknown. They could have been checking out the maternity ward or filling out paperwork for their pending arrival, or Jennifer could have experienced some early contractions and needed a rush to the hospital. It seems by the looks of the picture that Jennifer isn’t doing all that well, so it was probably of no surprise to her or her husband that she went into labor very shortly after this photo was taken. The picture was taken on Sunday, and Jennifer and Ben welcomed the newest addition to their family just two days later on Tuesday morning, giving birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. No other details on their new little princess have been released, such as size or the ever elusive name question, but mom and Violet’s new little sister are doing very well. Just days before the delivery, Jennifer was spotted with her oldest daughter, three year old Violet at the Farmer’s Market in Pacific Palisades and grabbing a decaf coffee at Caffe Luxxe in Santa Monica. And by all accounts, Jennifer is going to handle number two with the aplomb and grace that she did with Violet. Any co star that has worked with her, such as Alias co star and close friend Victor Garber, say that Jennifer will need no help in the mommy department. Friends close to her say that Jennifer is ‘the best mother they know’. And my hunch is it won’t be long before we see her big toothy grin as she introduces her new daughter to the rest of the world. Our congratulations go out to Ben, Jennifer, and new big sister little Violet.

A very pregnant Ashlee Simpson and her hubby Pete Wentz are see having some last minute couple time while they await the birth of their little bambino. They went to see the musical ‘Wicked\ on Hollywood Boulevard earlier this month. And with Ashlee’s baby due any day now, this may have even been their last official date as a couple before they become parents. Pete Wentz has reported that Ashlee is actually due to deliver their baby ‘any minute’ and that he is now on baby daddy call as she could go any time. He says she is at the very end and anything can happen on any day, so we can expect to hear an announcement very soon. Mind you, Ashlee is a first time mom and first timers can have a tendency to go overdue, but with these things, you just never know. In the meantime, to distract himself, Pete is attempting to set a world record for the most radio interviews in a 24 hour period with his band mate Patrick Stump in a contest that is taking place today. Because…..when you are on call and your very pregnant wife could go into labor at ANY second, marathon record breaking activities is a smart thing to do?? Hmm….At any rate. Pete says Ashlee is doing well overall and that she can’t wait to be a mom. He thinks it’s cute how she is hot all the time and their thermostat is set to 34 degrees to keep her comfortable. He says she is not just excited about being a mom, but can’t wait to not be pregnant anymore. She struggles to go up and down stairs, and can’t stand going out in public if she doesn’t have to. The two have not chosen a name and do not wish to do so until after the birth, a concept many parents choose to wait on until they meet their little one and see their face. But a friend of the pair offers some sage advice,

“you’ve gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator, so he’ll get work either way.”

And well, since Apple and Coco are already taken, that may be good advice after all. We look forward to hearing Ashlee and Pete’s big announcement.

Here is the mother of the year appearing for her first public appearance since the birth of her twins. Angelina is in New York City for the premiere of her movie ‘The Changling’ and is sporting a svelte new mommy figure and some new tattoos to mark the birth co-ordinates of the latest additions to the Pittlet family. Isn’t she so loving and giving? Ah yes, the mother of the year. United Nations Ambassador and global charitable heart. Let’s hope she and Brad don’t split up anytime soon, because if it ever came to a custody battle, Angelina has made some strikes against her, and gone about it in an oddly rather public way. As it turns out, Angelina Jolie recently gave a gift to her seven year old son Maddox that raised some eyebrows. The gift? Oh, it was a knife. Why? She felt he was ready for it. Ooooooohhhh KAY. What child is READY for a knife? What ADULT is ready to play with knives? Good heavens! But rest assured, she has a quickie explanation for all of it. She wants him to learn how to defend himself, and understand the responsibilities that come with carrying a weapon. Yep. Second graders have a whole unit on weapon safety and gun control in social studies class. It’s sandwiched in between the lesson where they learn how to tell time, and counting bugs in a jar in science class. But no really, she has a point. She says:

My mom took me to buy my first daggers when I was 11 or 12. And I have already bought Maddox some things. We take him to a special shop. We also talk about samurais and the idea about defending someone as good. We talk about everything.

I guess Maddox must be ‘Gifted’ then, since he’s only 7, and Angelina herself wasn’t allowed to play with daggers until she was the mature age of 11. But this all came up in her recent interview with W magazine, you know the one where this glowing mother of 6 splashed the cover with her doting breastfeeding shots? Yeah, what you don’t see on the cover is a picture of the knife she bought for Maddox. I wonder why, probably because the SANE people wouldn’t buy a magazine that endorsed child weaponry! But she said to W, ‘I just looked at him….loved him…and felt open to it…’ She chalked it all up to way back when she was a teenager and indulged in some self-harm through cutting measures. She found, like many do that engage in this behaviour, that it gave her some kind of a release, numbing from the pain, and to HER it was therapeutic. Yes, to her it was. To crazy people it IS. Mental note to self. Find out what school sweet little knife wielding Maddox is attending and NEVER EVER send my child there.

Salma Hayek is seen here just days after a huge announcement came down that she was suddenly going to be doing the single mom thing, as she had just split with fiancé Francois Henri Pinault, who happens to be the father of her little Valentina. Valentina is just turned one, so it seemed a little strange that a couple *so in love* would be so quick as to split up so publicly. However, they did in fact split up, because you know when their ‘people’ are talking about it, then it’s official news. But you would never guess they weren’t together with the way they have been acting lately, suggesting a little bit of rekindled sparks so to speak. On Tuesday morning, Salma was seen hitting the Balenciaga show for Paris Fashion Week, and she brought along a very special guest, yes, ex fiancé Francois Henri Pinault. Francois is of course the owner of the fashion house, and I guess it never hurts to have some good threads weaving through domestic bliss, but what has happened here? All reports say the couple looked fabulous together, very happy and oddly friendly. There was no hugging, or hand holding, or anything of the sort, but keep in mind they KNOW people are watching, and they were there together, as this had nothing to do with little Valentina who obviously did not attend the event. This event comes just weeks after the couple were seen in Los Angeles together, where they went to dinner together. And this is not the only time the two have been getting cozy, as they also went to Paris together so that Francois’ family could meet baby Valentina. And actually, it sounds like these events aren’t the only ones. Getting tea here, hanging out with Valentina there, shopping, going for walks, and on and on. Soooo….even though they may not be ACTING all cozy and canoodly *cough* in public… I know there’s something up here.

Princess Matilda Ledger is seen here dressed as a princess and strolling on a drizzly rainy New York City morning with her nannies. Matilda is the wee daughter of Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger who died last January 22nd as a result of an accidental overdose of prescription medication. And since Heath’s death, a big to do has occurred over whether or not Matilda would inherit any of Heath’s estate. This happens quite frequently when parents do not change their wills, and Anna Nicole’s children went through the same thing. But since this rainy day, a closed court ruled that the two year old princess would become the legal heir to Heath’s estate now valued at $20 million dollars. But that’s not all for Matilda. There is also a legal issue regarding an insurance policy that Heath had for $10 million dollars and Heath’s lawyer is suing the insurance company for death claims that have been unpaid, where Matilda is the sole beneficiary. Heath’s lawyer claims that the company is trying to avoid paying the claim but the insurance company, Relia Star has their own story. They claim that Heath lied on his insurance paperwork, and that they are still considering his death a suicide. The lawyer retorts back saying that no, if Relia Star had issues with Heath’s credibility, that would have had to have been investigated BEFORE his death, and that further, Heath’s death has been completely investigated and there is absolutely NO evidence or declaration of a suicide. But the lawyer doesn’t want to drag it out saying the suit could take YEARS to resolve, as Relia Star will be taking depositions from just about everyone they can in order to prolong the process. My thoughts on that? Well, you know the lawyer is in a rush to collect his contingency, but that’s about the only 9-1-1 I see here. She’s 2. She JUST inherited $20 million. And Mom isn’t exactly collecting welfare to support her. If it takes some time, so be it. She’s 2.

Katie Holmes has been burning the candle at both ends these days, with jet setting between L.A. and New York. In L.A. she’s been attending the premiere of ‘Tropic Thunder’ and then zooming back to New York the following day to continue rehearsals for her Broadway work in ‘All My Sons’. She is seen here enjoying some swing time with her daughter Suri, and while by all appearances she is hanging on tight to the little one, it may be her marriage that she is truly trying to cling to. By all accounts the Cruise marriage is hanging by a thread due to many factors, one of which being Katie acting as an East Coaster for the time being. Katie and Tom were last seen at the premier of Tropic Thunder, and though they were all smiles, there may be bigger issues underneath. Cruise plays a small role in Thunder, and it may just be this fact that is causing a rift as we all know in Tinseltown, size matters when it comes to roles. Katie may be feeling the crunch of being the primary breadwinner in a family that expects nothing less than the best, and as her career skyrockets, Tom’s seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Add that to the fact that due to her career, Katie missed an important scientology convention in Los Angeles, and all reports indicate that control freak Cruise was less than impressed. Tom’s dwindling career combined with his scientology obsession may slowly be moving him off the A-list in Hollywood and having a significant effect on his former ‘heartthrob’ status that Katie initially was attracted to. Is Katie Holmes about to be a single mom? I know many that wouldn’t be too disappointed by that fact, and by all accounts, she seems to handle life with much more grace alone, now that she IS a big time star. Time will tell now, won’t it?

Gwen Stefani is seen here enjoying her last few days of pregnancy in the British summertime with her hubby Gavin Rossdale and little boy Kingston. The happy family went to the zoo and even as heavily pregnant as she was, Gwen looked as always, simply radiant. Now, Gwen no longer has the glow of pregnancy on her pretty face, but the glow of being a mom blessed yet again with her second child. Gwen and hubby Gavin Rossdale welcomed their second son on Thursday in Los Angeles, and the couple are getting closer and closer to building their own rock band. And it seems they think so too, as their second son is named Zuma Nesta Rock and was born at 12:46 P.M. Thursday weighing a very healthy 8.5 pounds. Little Kingston who just turned two this May is now a proud and happy big brother and the entire family is happy, healthy, and beaming from ear to ear. Will little Kingston feel left out? Not if Gwen and Gavin have anything to say about it. The two are following the advice of friends and ensuring Kingston has his own welcome home gift when the baby comes home so that he has some extra special ‘just Kingston’ attention from mom and dad. Many congratulations to Gwen, Gavin, and Kingston, and happy birthday little Zuma!
