David Arquette is spotted here enjoying his “separation” from wife Courteney Cox, as he hits the Las Palmas Lounge for his nightly entertainment. And though by all looks and accounts he is enjoying the single life, it sounds like the he said/she said thing that has been happening with David, Courteney, and Howard Stern may come to an end. It sounds like they are putting a quasi-retraction on the end of their marriage. Or something. Do these folks need the publicity? Or are they just….really not sure. We aren’t either, but this is the latest news that their trip to divorce court may not actually happen after all. But it is confirmed that Courteney Cox and David Arquette are putting the brakes on their trip to splitsville. “I don’t know what will happen, but this is not like we’re getting divorced,” Courteney told TV Week. Married people staying together in Hollywood? That doesn’t sound right. And more importantly, do David’s girlfriends know this? Courteney isn’t listening to THAT. She told TV Week:

“This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage.”

Courteney and David announced last month that they had been separated for a few months, but they’ve continued to see each other. They were both with their six-year-old daughter Coco at her horse show on October 17, and were planning to take her trick-or-treating as of yesterday. That might be what David Arquette was talking about when he poured his heart out to Howard Stern (again) last week.

“We gotta kind of make this separation more separate. It’s just not so easy to communicate.”

Even though he said Courteney was “pissed” that he had spoken to Howard Stern about their split, Courteney wasn’t bitter. In her interview with TV Week she said:

“[David] is a kook. It’s not shocking and Howard Stern, he loves him, and I’m a fan of Howard Stern… David is an entertainer and I’m sure the people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories.”

It’s like she’s in my head! Luckily for the Cox-Arquettes, they have Her Royal Highness of dumpsville, Miss Jennifer Aniston, to guide them. “It’s funny, a lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now,” Courteney, whose friend Laura Dern is also divorcing her husband of five years Ben Harper, told TV Week. “Or like Jennifer [who] has gone through it. I don’t know what’s going on in the planets or what, but things are being shaken up and I don’t know what’s going to happen, but, yeah, Jennifer has been amazing for sure.” It would be encouraging for Courteney and David to be that rare celebrity couple that actually does get back together. It would make living through them vicariously just that much more satisfying. But Courteney wants David to grow up, and considering he’s hanging out at 90210 stars Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes’ birthday party, I’m thinking he’s not quite there yet. We expect this one to take a few more steps before they reach the Ross/Rachel we are soooooo over. If they do, we are secretly hoping they don’t. Somebody’s gotta stay married in that town!

Here’s a couple that we kind of had high hopes for, as it seems like they just had everything going on in all the right places in all the right times. David Arquette is seen here last month without his wedding ring, and it sounds like this was not so much about “forgetting it at home” as it was about “forgetting I ever got married”. Sadly, even the reps have come out on this one, and it has been confirmed that after 11 years, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are living the single life. In a statement to E!Online, the couple stated:
“We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go through this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together.”
The couple, who met on the set of Scream in 1996, recently reprised their roles from the original slasher flick for the upcoming fourth instalment in the horror franchise. They’ve had a child together, after undergoing the pain and heartbreak of infertility, and from the sounds of it, until now, all was good to go. There are reports of pictures of David and some younger model hitting it off on a beach somewhere, so the actual cause to this separation is anyone’s guess, David doesn’t exactly look like he is shedding tears over it. Mental note to all 40 something actresses in Hollywood. Taking a job with a show called “CougarTown” may not be all that great for the relationship. Just sayin.

This may be just rumor and speculation, and if it is, then I will be somewhat relieved. The reason being that there is still a small part of me that thinks someone in Hollywood has it together when it comes to relationships, and the marriage between Courteney Cox and her husband of nine years David Arquette has always been one of those type. You know, they are the stuff that longevity is made of in Hollywood. Will Smith and Jada are another example, but that’s a whole other show as Oprah would say. But in fact, there are rumors swirling that Courteney Cox and David Arquette are having problems leading to near collapse of their nine years of wedded bliss. And it all boils down to baby making. We’ve known that Courteney and David had many problems conceiving their first child, they were both very public and honest about it. The couple went through fertility treatments to conceive little Coco, who is now 4, and, like many married folks expanding their family, they want another child. However, Courteney does not want to go through the angst of more fertility treatments as it was almost too much to endure at the time. And she is absolutely dead-set against adoption. So, because she IS 44 now, the only other option is to give up on the second baby dream all together. Having to come to that kind of decision and closure is tough on even the strongest marriages, and so this marriage as well is seeing the strain of the results. In fact, despite the ups and downs the couple have experienced over the last nine years, this one is leaving them both just plain exhausted. To make matters worse, David Arquette is a recovering addict, with some pretty hefty drug issues from the past and Courteney is worried that the stress is so bad that it will send him back to the drugs. She is the one that wants them to get through this together, but sources close say David is shutting down and spending more time out with his pals than at home with his wife and daughter. Hmm….if this is true, things don’t look good here. And marriages in Hollywood as we know have crumbled under far less strains, so anything can happen here.

Here is Courteney Cox enjoying some time with her hubby last night as they head out for dinner to the trendy L.A. hot spot Il Sole Restaurant. It’s nice to see Courteney and her hubby doing the dinner date thing, it’s been a while for them in terms of marriage in Tinseltown, and they really do give some faith that yes, some marriages do last even in this city. Other than being protective of her BFF Little J, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney has been under the radar lately, but that does not mean she hasn’t been busy. Right now Courteney is dodging the paps while working on her latest movie “Bedtime Stories” and is putting this last season of “Dirt” to bed. And, as far as “Dirt” is concerned, it seems that the rumors of Dirt coming to an end are true. FX has not picked up the show again following the writer’s strike due to a lack of ratings. However, that is not stopping Courteney from staying on her toes and in tip top shape to resume other projects such as “Bedtime Stories” which is just one of many she has in the works. And speaking of Courteney being in shape, is it possible she’s gone to the extreme again? I am wondering how close to the scary skinny list this girl is. You could knock this one over with a feather I’m thinking.
