Both Christina Aguilera, 27, and Nicole Richie, 26, gave birth today @ the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in LA. It was a baby boy for Christina Aguilera and hubbie Jordan Bratman, and a girl for Nicole Richie with BF Joel Madden. According to reports about Nicole Richie’s daughter’s birth:

Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born Friday at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz.

“The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents,” says the rep, who confirmed the birth to PEOPLE exclusively. ~ People

As for Christina and Jordan,

“Mark Malkin of E!online reports that Xtina has given birth as well. We’re told it’s a bouncing baby boy!” ~ TMZ

Congratulations to both couples during this happy time!

When it comes to the holidays, celebs have a tendency to come out in full force supporting this cause or the other. In this case, it was Nicole Richie and Joel Madden who are not just names behind their Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, but are actually active participants. Last Saturday, the couple hosted a party at Paramount Studios for approximately 200 families who have been participating in the Los Angeles County’s Beyond Shelter Program. This program helps the less fortunate to find stable housing in L.A.. Nicole and Joel opened up their big hearts to see that these families had an additional need met – a good Christmas. The party featured clowns, balloons, face-painting, and of course a jolly visit from the Big Guy at the North Pole as well. In addition to all of these festivities, Nicole and Joel handed out 500 Cloud B Cuddle Club teddy bears and 500 pairs of new Stride-Rite shoes to ensure that noone in the program went without this Christmas. Among the companies that donated generously to this event were Baby Center, Ultimate Life Giving, and Mama Sue’s Cookies. Give it props to this couple who are just a month away from being Mom and Dad and found time in their schedule to give and share with those that need it.

Here is Nicole Richie and Joel Madden while they are heavy in the throes of preparing for parenthood. Not only are they getting ready to be mommy and daddy, but this big hearted couple is also helping other parents do the same thing. Here they are at the Los Angeles Free Clinic the other day to launch their own charitable organization that will help parents who are less fortunate prepare for their baby or babies through the use of baby supplies. To start the organization going, Nicole and Joel donated all of the gifts they received from their baby shower for the foundation. I think it’s great what they are doing, as this is a program that is most definitely well needed in any major metropolitan area. And Nicole I have to add is looking so pretty in all her glowing mommy glory. Pregnancy really suits her, doesn’t it?

Well you can’t accuse this girl of being an anorexic these days, but that is not to say that Nicole Richie doesn’t have braveheart bones. Any woman that is in the 5 month stage of pregnancy and is willing to not only be in public in a bikini, but willing to be photographed as such gets some kudos from me. Here she is in Hawaii blowing off some steam with daddy-to-be Joel Madden in a teensy string pieced number that even some thin non-preggo girls would be too modest to sport in public. She has in recent times been given a lot of flack for her lack of body meat, among many other personal choices she has made, but she seems to have foregone the weight obsession and is sporting a very healthy, curvier, mommy-to-be look. Dare I say glowing? Clearly, she is focusing on her health, and that of her little one. Let’s hope that this is the first of many wise choices she makes in the times to come.

According to People Magazine, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are engaged. Hot 99.5 morning show deejay Kane had the full dish on Friday:

“We heard this morning,” Kane told PEOPLE following Good Charlotte’s 40-minute set. Crediting he got the word from “good sources,” Kane said he hadn’t seen Richie since hearing the news, but added he had offered his congratulations to Madden earlier in the night. “He had said, ‘Thank you so much,’” recalled Kane.

“They’re very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal,” he added.

That’s sOo great! On Thursday, during a visit to ABC’s Live! With Regis and Kelly in New York, Benji Madden also announced that he was engaged to Australian actress, Sophie Monk. They’re going to be one big happy family! I can’t wait to see the wedding dress… will it be Vera Wang?

According to Star Magazine, Nicole Richie and BF Joel Madden are planning on tying the knot before she serves her jail sentence for speeding the wrong way down a Burbank California highway back in December… oh, and for her DUI charge, too.

“Joel said to Nicole, ‘Let’s get married before you go to jail,’ a source close to the couple reports. ‘She was so happy. He’s doing this so she feels secure behing bars. The last thing he wants is for her to worry about where they’re at while she’s in jail.’” ~ Star

Three days doesn’t seem like a big deal to me… it’s not like she’ll be in there for a year and Joel might hook back up with his ex, Hilary Duff. The baby coming in the winter might also have something to do with it! If Lionel Richie is over the moon with happiness, then it must be a good idea. Who knows, Joel might make an honest woman out of her yet.
