Well there are two thoughts that may cross one’s mind with that headline. The first will be, is it even true? The second will be, probably, but how long will THIS one last. I can’t answer either of those questions for you, but what I can say is that with this one, we still don’t know the why’s behind it. Just last month Jennifer and John Mayer were seen all googly beared with each other at the Academy Awards, so you have to know that something big has gone down if they’ve un-attached themselves from each others hips. Maybe John John just wanted his Oscar invite and then waited a polite amount of obligatory time before he gave her the ol’ see ya, lady. Or perhaps a Dear John letter was in the works and Jennifer just gritted through the Oscars and the Brad/Angelina rumors that milled around it, used him as her shoulder to lean on and…then…waited a polite amount of obligatory time before she started scrawling ‘Dear John,’. But yes, if yesterday you were only able to be guaranteed in life were death and taxes, today you can add a third to the list, death, taxes, and breakup rumors. One rumor floating around, and this is the kind that John likes, is that he did the heaving. After she returned home from her press tour in Europe for Marley and Me, there were apparently some disagreements that led to the end. But her side is saying nothing but ‘she’s happy’. And just this past Saturday she proved that, the same way she did last time, by hanging out with her bestie Courteney Cox and ‘a male friend’ for dinner at the Sunset Tower. Male friend? Is that what we’re calling David now? In the meantime, John is staying under wraps at his in home studio as he records his next album ‘I am SOOOOOO Over Her’. Because we know just why he got the Player Mayer title. He’s infamously noted for his string along with Jessica Simpson with reports on that relationship being that they also broke up several times….twelve, actually. Yes, twelve. (and Jessica wonders why we make fun of her? So what’s the story with the Manistons? Breakup or publicity ploy? I don’t like to think that Jen is a diabolical puppet master who manipulates the media, because if so she really should have done something about the past million Life & Style covers, but what convenient timing that these two are done just as Jen is home from meeting the British press, the gossipiest gossips that ever did goss. If you want to be cynical about it, you could see the whole thing as a big smokescreen to keep reporters from needling her about her lonely life in comparison to the Brangelina Family Jamboree. I don’t want to believe that, but if you do, please, by all means.

Well if you’ve been wondering what is going on with these two like the rest of the world, then you are in good company, because it seems NOBODY knows, not even John and Jen what they are doing exactly. They aren’t getting married, they aren’t splitting up, but they are doing something kind of in the middle there. And they are calling it an open relationship. Yes, this on again off again thing has gotten boring even for them, so ‘non exclusive but not not seeing each other’ is their new official label. It sounds like Jennifer wants to ‘keep her options open’. Which translates to me to that she knows John won’t commit, so she’ll keep him around until she finds somebody that will. She’s also got a huge bunch of things happening with her career right now, with this that and the other movie coming out, along with all of the promotions for such, and well, just being one of America’s prettiest girls. And because she has just celebrated her 40th birthday, and still one of America’s prettiest girls, keeping one’s options open doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. Whether you are swamped with work or not. And so her smarts aren’t letting us down as we once suspected when she decided to renew this Player Mayer thing, as she is the one calling the shots and putting her foot down on this one. There was some talk of moving in together, but Jennifer said ‘No thanks’ and told John that wouldn’t happen unless he made some kind of ‘official long term committment’. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t long after that when John piped up on his MySpace blog that he had just bought a ring for her. And by the sounds of it, the ‘idea’ of marriage for John is more appealing than the marriage actually happening, as he won’t settle down to a timeline of any sorts. So he may want to have his cake and eat it too, but this is a game that she is wising on to. And it’s about time that she did, no?

John Mayer is seen here touching down but briefly at New York City’s JFK International Airport after a coast to coast flight from Los Angeles. John is arriving in New York City to support his girlfriend Jennifer Aniston during her recent promo circuit for her latest movie ‘Marley and Me’. And from the sounds of it, John may not have to make these coast to coast as it sounds like Jennifer and John have had their breakup of the month. Or season. Or whatever. And at this point, it is pretty clear that these two simply do not belong together. What happened here? Because it sounds like this is for good. This time. I guess she’s just not that into you, John. Yes, Jennifer will be seeing the release of her next movie ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ just next week, and many are saying she is using her relationship with John Mayer to plug her new movie, but I have to say I don’t think this is the case. Jennifer Aniston is way too cool and has too many smarts in that pretty head of hers to use a romantic thing to plug a movie. No, no, Jennifer’s movies sell all on their own. But her friends say that she is a control freak and doesn’t like his long silences or his uncommunicative spells where she can’t get anything out of him. The couple were last seen vacationing in Mexico, with Jennifer’s BFF’s Courteney Cox and David Arquette, and with John’s two brothers. So maybe something uncomfortable happened when the big happy family tried to vacay together? Hard to say here, because just like Jen, elusive is as elusive does and we won’t hear the dirty deets for awhile. Or it could have been John’s recent You Tube video, where he posted a mock self-empowerment moment referencing Jennifer Aniston’s ex Brad Pitt and making big claims for Brad’s movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ and if I were his girlfriend, and Brad was MY ex, I wouldn’t be too thrilled about that either. But this video could very well have been a retaliation to the breakup as well, anyone’s guess is as good as mine I suppose. But like I say, we won’t know the real story for awhile, but lesson learned here for Player Mayer I guess. She’s just not that into you. And if this video was really a breakup retaliation? Wow, so junior high! But you know how it is, when John Mayer suffers, we all suffer. *sigh*

Ah yes, the couple that is John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston…a story that is getting a little long winded, no? But if they are still going strong, there must be something to it, because those on again off again things usually mean true love for the pair. Just ask Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson. (we’re still waiting for the update on their latest on again stint) And here is Player Mayer touching down at JFK in New York City from a whirlwind back and forth east/west coast holiday thing. John showed up in New York on New Year’s Even just for Jennifer Aniston, to keep her company while she premieres and promotes her new movie ‘Marley and Me’ in New York City. Ah, the things that couples do for each other. And now they are making cheese together. That’s right, cheese in the this is officially *too much* kind of way. Seems they are not quite ready to take the plunge of living together, having a baby or getting married, but they ARE committed enough to each other to make a song together. Ugh. Most of us know Jennifer Aniston as a talented comic actress and accomplished sun tanner. But it seems your favourite Friend has a hidden talent: poet! And what do you get when you put together a poet and a musician? Ah yes…you’re getting it. After she wrote a heartfelt love poem for boyfriend John Mayer, the Starbucks-friendly rocker set Jen’s words of goo to music. He performed it for her during their trip to Cabo over New Year’s Eve and she broke down in tears. Much like the rest of us. And while she may be bringing up tears, you have to wonder what the rest of us are bringing up. And here is the next great love song of our time:

Well! Um… “a truck in love” is a very original way to phrase something. It does rely on a line Jen used in her Oprah interview: “I’ve been unbelievably lucky in love.” I really hope Jen did write this though, because then maybe there are others. I, for one, would enjoy a mournful, moody ballad with the rhyming of Mayer and Player…

We all know that Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are officially ‘back together’ but we don’t really know how serious they are. This is because we have heard a LOT about Jennifer wanting to ensure that John is ready, willing, and able to meet her needs of commitment in their relationship. And to prove to John just how serious she is about being serious, Jennifer has been seen out and about with many men since her rekindling with John, and my guess is that she is hoping to prove to him that she is not putting all her eggs into a Mayer basket. Well it looks like she may have been successful with this endeavour as John Mayer has been making some not so subtle mumblings about a proposal in the works. Jennifer was spotted here leaving the Esquina Café in New York the other night, a café where she met up with John for dinner, but to avoid the paps, the two had to get creative and leave in separate entrances from the restaurant. And since they are both artists, getting creative is not a problem to either of them, and John is hoping that his creativity will come in hand when it comes time to propose. That is of course, if he ever really has to do it…But he has hinted that he is planning on doing just that, and if he does propose to Jennifer, he thinks that he will need to organize a creative way to pop the question to her. He says:

I think I’d be pretty good at proposing. I’d figure that out. I’d get creative.

I can’t say that I doubt that…He is a sexy crooner with songs that can melt butter. No, John probably IS good at proposing. But we do know that when it comes to being committed, the more important factor, he’s not very good at that at all. What will become of Jennifer and John John…..only time will tell boys and girls…

It has all seemed kind of sudden and strange, hasn’t it? This seemingly sudden rekindling of the romance between John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston. I mean, when the two split up it was quite the shock, that happened pretty suddenly as well. And then it got ugly! John was all in the paparazzi faces making sure that HE wasn’t going to be blamed for the split. All the while Jennifer glowed her beautiful smile and acted like nothing ever phased her. Until BAM we are hit with the news that the two are as in love as ever. It has gotten a little confusing to say the least. But hello, there may be, and as always is, more to the story. And the more to THIS story may be that the reason for their sudden rekindling has everything to do with the fact that Jennifer is carrying his baby. Hm. I wonder how much truth to that there actually is, but you know, it WOULD make sense given the light of everything. So it may have less to do with John reconsidering his priorities and giving up the famous ‘rolled cigarettes’ as it is to do with Jennifer’s possible pregnancy. Mind you, she may be wanting him to give up drinking, heavy partying, and his puffing habits if he is to be a dad sometime within the next year. And Jennifer has been putting on some pounds lately as well. Though this shot of her shooting for 30 Rock is showing off a fairly svelte figure, more recent shots of her have indicated some under the eye bagginess, puffy face, and some overall fluffiness to her figure. And while many figured that the rumor that they were back together was just that, a passing thing or a rumor generated to create headlines, THAT is definitely not the case. Not only have the two been seen out together on many public dates, but John was spotted sneaking out of her home the other morning after they had been seen out for dinner together the night before. Hmmm……I am a little sceptical on this one, though the scepticism meter isn’t really running high right now. As I said, this would make everything make sense. Let’s see how this one turns out.
