Yes, here is one that just came out of nowhere, makes it fun to gossip again when celebrities surprise the heck out of us. But this time we are talking about the ever so fabulous Katherine Heigl who has, not gossip, but a fantastic piece of news that is worth celebrating. And this gorgeous girl is seen here heading back to home after leaving her Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Ellen Pompeo’s baby shower. Heigl hosted the pre-birth party for Ellen at her own home, with Ellen expecting her first child, a little girl, any time this month. And though we weren’t aware, at the time of the shower, Katherine was well in the works of becoming a mom herself. Yes, Katherine and her husband Josh Kelley have just welcomed their newly adopted daughter, Naleigh, from South Korea. And though it is surprising news, its wonderful news and by all looks and accounts, Katherine and her new life seemed to have continued on just seamlessly. And she and her hubby couldn’t be MORE over the moon about it. Katherine says she knew that Naleigh was meant to be hers when she found out her birthday was just a day before hers.

“She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign,” Katherine said when announcing the news of her adoption on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last week.

Naleigh received her beautiful name from Katherine’s mother Nancy, and her sister Margaret Leigh, and ALL members of the family just couldn’t be more tickled. Says the gushing daddy:

“We adopted a baby from Korea, me and my girl, and she’s awesome, dude! This girl is the bomb! It’s like I have Gerber all over my knee, and it doesn’t even matter, I love it.”

At his show at Miami University, Kelley introduced a song he had just written about Naleigh, singing the lines, “Just to see you in mommy’s arms is all I need.”
Josh and Katherine have been working on the adoption for six months, and only just welcomed 10 month old special needs baby Naleigh into their home. And it sounds like they are the happiest parents in Hollywood. Welcome to Hollywood, Naleigh, and congratulations to Josh and Katherine!

Katherine is one that generally leaves her personal habits such as smoking out of the spotlight, however she was snapped here having a puff on the way to her car. And Katherine has developed quite the reputation for being one that is not so afraid to speak her mind, and this quality was what got her in trouble, again, just recently when a Santa Monica police officer didn’t like the way she was ‘polluting the atmosphere’. Ever the one to defend herself, Katherine stood up for her rights to do what she wants and promptly tossed the cigarette butt at the officer’s feet. While her attitude wasn’t enough to get a citation, she did get a stern talking to. Oh my, I am sure she will never do THAT again. Lynn Rocchini, an activist for the environment on the other hand was quick to point and wag the judgemental finger at Katherine by producing a strongly written letter on what happens when you throw your butt into the streets. You know, they get into the drains, and eventually in the ocean, and then eaten by wildlife, and one by one the turtles, and fish, and birds all start to die. All because of Katherine’s cigarette butt. Lynn cited thousands of cases where dead wildlife were autopsied and found to have ingested cigarette butts. This is a first for me, I mean, that environmental hazards to WILDLIFE would be an argument used against smoking. And I am sure Katherine had an eloquently stated come back to the stand. I mean, when does the health and welfare of our wildlife come before the health and welfare of the general human public, the MOST appropriate stance on reasons not to smoke. The environmental issue? Warranted I am sure, but when it comes to smoking, not the LARGEST concern here.

Katherine Heigl is seen here on a Mexico vacation with her hubby Josh Kelley, and while she does not seem too concerned about lung cancer in her real life, she can at least put to bay any concerns she had over getting a brain tumor on screen as Izzie Stevens. Katherine has been plagued by some back lash that occurred after she shot her mouth off about pulling out of the Emmy contention, and there were some reports that the writers were going to get back at her by writing a brain tumor in for her character on Grey’s Anatomy. Grey’s Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes has spoken out to put those rumors to rest saying that there will be no brain tumor for Izzie this year, but as for drama, oh yes, you can expect a hospital full of ‘em with this coming season. One thing you can look forward to is some heat sparking up between her and grumpy man Alex, which will follow through on their season finale hookup. Hm, wonder what that will lead to. Though I have to say, I was so sad when things with her and George didn’t work out. Fans will also see Meredith living with Dr. McDreamy, and expect some complications there (well, it IS Meredith) as Derek who has already been there and done that with his marriage, will find living together a little awkward at times. You’ll also want to see where things go with Callie and Erica, as this is a relationship that is expected to continue, and don’t be surprised when that relationship goes to heights you may not expect. The last tidbit we will leave you with is a slew of new faces will come on screen as they do every year with their new interns. But a particularly hot new face will be a military doctor who arrives to the hospital on leave, and may be a possible love interest for Cristina, who spent all of last season pining after Preston Burke. And while she is all pretty and smiley right now, her smile may fade as the season for Grey’s Anatomy progresses. Katherine has been one to be known to sort of have a big mouth in Hollywood, and has gotten some flack lately for comments she made about pulling out of the Emmy’s contention. She reasoned her pulling out of the race was due to the fact that she did not have ‘Emmy worthy material’. This comment has not earned her many fans, and ticked off some writers as they took it as a slam to the quality of the content they produced for her. Perhaps Katherine has forgotten, so soon after a writer’s strike, that one does not tick writers off without suffering some heat. Well, she got the heat, and it sounds like there may be more. The writers for Grey’s have decided to go ahead and do just that, give her some Emmy worthy material, as Katherine’s character Izzy is expected to be diagnosed with a brain tumor this fall. *gasp!* Neither Katherine, nor her fans, will know until the 11th hour whether the tumor will nip her character in the bud or not…..But with the bad comes the good, as to add to her Emmy worthy acting, the writer’s are also throwing in a return of a previous guest. As Izzy will be ‘visited’ by her long time love and soulmate Denny Duquette as she goes through the pain and challenges of the tumor. Sound Emmy worthy? You bet! Are we going to say goodbye to Izzy? Who knows?!

Yes, it’s finally official. So we can stop talking about her wedding preparations now and ooh and ah about the wonders of married life for Katherine Heigl. She married Josh Kelley in Park City, Utah yesterday. And of course, all of her Grey’s buds were right there – T.R. Knight, Sandra Oh, and Kate Walsh to name a few. This really should be interesting to watch. Especially since she herself does not even have that much faith in the marriage. I think she actually referred to it as a ‘crap shoot’ and acknowledged that the odds are bad when it comes to marriages in Hollywood. Uh yeah, and I am betting that the odds get even worse when on the day of the wedding the bride uses the term ‘crap shoot’ for ANY reason. Best wishes to both Josh and Katherine of course!

Here is Katherine Heigl and her fiancé Josh Kelley heading out to Cosmo’s in Hollywood on November 29th. They’re so cute, aren’t they? All lovey dovey and smiles. You would never guess then that this star of Gray’s Anatomy is getting a reputation for being kind of a nasty girl in Hollywood. She’s made a few comments unbecoming and people are starting to use the B word in reference to her. First she said the producer of Gray’s only used her character as a ratings ploy. Then, when she got her big screen break in ‘Knocked Up’ she made comments to the effect of the film being sexist and degrading to women. She was also publicly heard blasting the Emmy’s announcer for mispronouncing her name. So, is this a strong woman, or just a bitch? She chalks it up to being a strong woman who tells it like it is, and that if you couch your feelings one is not being true to themselves. Give her props for not backing down on who she is, even when she’s being criticized for it. But perhaps, a little levity would go a little farther for her. Particularly in hugely public appearances such as the uh, Emmy’s.
