Ah yes, Paris Hilton sure does enjoy giving us something to laugh about, no? I mean, she provides comedic entertainment for the masses every time she buys another dog or opens her mouth. And though her personal life has been a little boring since her breakup with Benji Madden became official, she’s now offered us something else to laugh over. Here she is being spotted in Sydney at the famous A lister Bondi Beach where her new joined at the hip BFF Brittany Flickinger spend New Years Eve with her. And during this time it seems that rumors are leaking out that she and George Clooney are an item. Oh yes, laugh all you will, but sources are saying that George Clooney and Paris Hilton were spotted…together….for an intimate evening at a Hollywood nightspot just recently. I am trying to figure out where the confusion is as to why this rumor would start. Perhaps Paris started it trying to fuel a duel with her longtime rival Phoebe Price, who has made no secret about the fact that she hearts Georgie boy in a very big way. Or perhaps George Clooney did make some grotesquely misguided and probably alcohol fuelled error in judgement and stumble into the same type of bar that Paris Hilton would, and the story exploded from there. Or perhaps Clooney was just looking at a picture of Paris in a tabloid and someone noted that this must mean they are in love. I don’t know what circumstances there have to be in order for this rumor to be true, but they probably involve ice skating in hell. Yet folks from the Whiskey Bar at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Hollywood say differently.

Paris and George sat and talked together for ages. They didn’t seem to be aware of anyone else in the room.

And it sounds like the same source is sticking to the story by going even farther to say that the pair were spotted the next evening as well, at a dinner together in Hollywood along with director Ridley Scott and of course, Brittany Flickinger. Ok, whatever. Shortly after these supposed ‘dates’ was when Paris and Brittany fled to Sydney where Paris’s shopping sprees were described as ‘psycho’. In one store she reportedly spent approximately $122 a minute at the Wayne Cooper boutique, but she said she did it all for the greater good of the Australian economy. Okay, if Paris Hilton can give me an accurate definition of the word ‘economy’ THEN and only THEN will I buy the George Clooney thing.

Nicole Richie must be sweating in her uggs right now, as though she may have felt that she dodged a bullet when it came to Paris Hilton becoming her new sister in law, along comes another equally chilling notion. Britney Spears. Who for Nicole would be the lesser of two evils? Hard to say. But she may not have a choice, as last week Britney Spears was spotted out and about on a few secret dates with Paris’s ex and Nicole’s brother in law Benji Madden. And though it has not gone past Nicole’s watchful eye, it certainly hasn’t been missed by Paris either, who reportedly ‘saw red’ over the situation. In fact, Paris was so mad, she pulled out her entire arsenal of Mean Girl platitudes saying ‘that girl’s nothing but a dirty Southern trashbag who can only get my sloppy seconds’. That makes her look so classy, doesn’t it? And Britney’s side of the coin sounds like ‘pathetic loser’ when it comes to Paris, and acknowledges that Paris is just jealous because Brit is more famous than she is. Which is a pretty good point, I mean, out of the two, only one of them has a best selling album right now, right? So what is the real story here? Are Britney and Paris pulling out the claws, or is this whole Britney and Benji thing just a way to get some publicity? Or is it just someone starting a rumor to get Paris all riled up? Anything is possible, but I am leaning towards the all fact no fiction side of the coin. Has anyone seen Britney’s promotional calendar lately? Yep, as far as this rumor is concerned, go ahead and file it under when pigs fly.

We have been following this cute foursome for some time. Nicole and Paris are BFF’s that love to hate each other, and love to love each other. They can’t decide how close they are so we’ve almost given up on them as BFFs. Then we have Nicole with her boyfriend Joel Madden with whom she has baby Harlowe, so they seem to be one of the more solid Hollywood couples as we haven’t heard anything about relationship strife between these two. Enter Paris and Benji, Joel’s brother and a couple that was touted as heading for the aisle one day. Of course we know that Paris and Benji didn’t quite make it that far, in fact, she never even got the ring on her finger, and they split up in what is sounding like a rather ugly split. And from the other side of the camp, Nicole can’t seem to decide if she is relieved that Benji is out of Paris’s life, or if she wants them back together, so much so that she is currently sabotaging any chances Benji is taking to ‘move on’. At a recent party at the L.A. Ecco Ultra Lounge, Joel Madden was DJ’ing, and Nicole was doing the supportive girlfriend baby mama thing. Benji Madden was doing the supportive twin brother thing and was also in attendance at the party. Of course, Benji was sans Paris and was seemingly enjoying the single life until Nicole got involved. As Benji and Nicole were chatting it up, a busty blonde in some kind of pletherette ensemble tried to divert his attention towards her, and Benji was all over that like stink on a pig. And onlookers described the entire event like this:

Benji was approached by dozens of ladies. Girls were trying to flirt with him… but Nicole kept getting in the way. She stopped every girl trying to take a photo of him [and] dragged him by the arm [away from the girls.

Of course Nicole had to rush off to Le Deux later that evening to meet up with Paris and give her the full low down, and you can only imagine how thrilled Paris was over that situation. And given that Paris has been known to be stalking Benji and not handling the breakup all that well, I wonder what kind of cat claws towards her ex are going to come out now. Or maybe just maybe, Paris will wise up and realize that yes, there is nothing wrong with simply moving on, and getting over it. And we all just wish she would.

Ah well, yes, more is coming out with Paris and Benji breakup as these things always do. Paris Hilton is seen here leaving the Viper Room for the launch party of the Pussycat Doll Lounge in Los Angeles, and it seems like she is not that much of a happy camper. Guess she is taking the breakup with Benji Madden a little rough, which can only suggest that SHE is not the one that suggested their permanent hiatus. Reports are that Paris is desperate to get him back and has been pining for him since the split.

On Saturday night, she made somewhat of a fool of herself by chasing him around Los Angeles in an attempt to reconcile. She has also been bombarding him with text messages, none of which he is replying to. When she heard that he was hanging out at the Villa on Saturday, she dragged her pal Avril Lavigne out for the night and decided to confront him head on. Because when a guy refuses to answer your barrage of text messages, one has no choice but to confront him publicly right? I mean, that’s the cool thing to do, no?

Paris Hilton is seen here leaving Mr. Chow restaurant the other night, and this was the first of many nights where Paris had to remember what it was like to do things solo. Ah yes, it sounds like the inevitable has happened. Come on, nobody here REALLY believed those two were getting married do you? After Paris ate dinner at Mr. Chow all on her lonesome, she headed over to her sister Nicky’s house. Guess some commiserating with family was on her agenda. Maybe some Ben and Jerry’s? And while we don’t really know exactly what went on between Benji and Paris, we do know for sure that they are definitely done. Stick a fork in ‘em folks, it’s splitsville. And from the sounds of it, Benji is the one that did the goodbyes. A friend of Paris’s told People magazine:

“She is saddened by the breakup but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life. He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break.”

Is it possible that being spotted with her ex boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos on the evening of the 15th could have pushed the split? Yes, Paris was spotted with her former squeeze at a hot nightclub in Miami, and onlookers were saying the two were a little too close for comfort. And oddly enough, the Paris/Benji split came just DAYS after this event. Hm. Perhaps Paris has forgotten that cameras follow her every move. But both parties deny any claims that there was some unfaithfulness in this romance. But hm well, perhaps that statement was made before Paris screwed it up, if she did. Do you think we will see any boyfriend recycling here? Hard to say….tough call, that one.
