This may be news but I don’t think it’s surprising to anyone. Ashlee Simpson has had a whirlwind couple of months what with a new album, new marriage, and now new baby on the way. And I guess she’s decided to call it a day, at least for a little while, and is taking a break and putting her summer tour on hold. The tour was to promote her new album, but she doesn’t think she’d be able to give her fans the best of Ashlee. She promises that when she comes back, she will be better than ever for her fans. And here she is showing just how relaxed she is with her new hubby Pete Wentz as they spend some time goofing around at a Memorial Day party in Los Angeles. Pete’s hiding from the paps with a plate over his face that says ‘Your Ad Could be Here’ which is kind of funny that he’s, albeit jokingly, asking for endorsements when the happy Wentz couple just sold their wedding shots to People Magazine for a sweet $1.4 million. Maybe with that extra padding in the bank Ashlee is not too worried about the tour dollars, and hence, yet another reason to call for a break.

Yesterday Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz and ‘Pieces of Me’ singer Ashlee Simpson got married in a very private and intimate ceremony in Hollywood. Just a handful of their nearest and dearest were in attendance, including Jessica Simpson and her *whatever* Tony Romo, along with Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. While no wedding pictures have been released yet, Ashlee was stunning in a gown designed by Monique L’Huillier that she accessorized with gems in a diamond necklace and matching earrings from Neil Lane. But perhaps the biggest shock of the evening came when Ashlee announced at their wedding reception that yes, all of those pregnancy rumors are in fact true. Shocking? No. We were just wondering when they were going to tell everyone, and on the happiest day of their lives? Why not.

Here is Pete Wentz as he is arriving at the BAPESTORE opening in Los Angeles this past week. And even though he is generally scruffed out, looks like he’s taken that to another level here. Is not wanting to look too Tinseltown a statement of his social conscience? Hard to say, but Pete has been working very hard at making sure the world knows just how socially aware he is, with everything, right down to the pretty little rock on Ashlee’s finger. The engagement ring he gave to Ashlee is not only a testament of his love, but also of his political stance. That’s right, everything supports a cause in Hollywood, even engagement rings. Ashlee’s ring is not what some would call a ‘conflict’ diamond. Pete announced at the NME Awards the other night that he wanted to ensure Ashlee got something that WASN’T a conflict diamond. A conflict diamond apparently is one that has been sold for unlawful or illegal operations for rogue military or terrorists groups, and, it’s something that Pete cares about. At the NME Awards Pete’s statement was bold, and yes, emblazoned on a T-shirt “Coltan is a Conflict Diamond”. Too bad he’s spending so much time supporting causes instead of his wife to be. He’s been asked if all of this activism is getting in the way of his wedding planning. Well, he says, he’s involved, but in a ‘peripheral’ kind of way. Uh huh. Just a fancy way of saying uh no, not much!

How do celebrities get a chance to hang out with each other if they are all out hosting their own New Year’s Eve parties? Seems there are enough parties to go around for everyone though. In this case, Ashlee Simpson and Fallout Boy Pete Wentz were caught in a canoodle at midnight after hosting a bash at the elite Sky Bar at the Shore Club in Miami’s glitzy South Beach. Is it just me, or was EVERYONE in South Beach this New Years? The bash was also attended by other celebs such as Sophia Bush and Gabrielle Union. Eve also attended putting on a show for the crowd of VIP’s. And Ashlee and Pete celebrated the success of their bash with a hot and heavy canoodle session when the clock struck twelve.
