It seems that Tinseltown is a town of tears these days, whether they be happy ones celebrating baby bumps and Richie weddings, or sad ones mourning the end of romance. This week romance comes to a screeching halt for Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson as they end their marriage, though we don’t expect any Arquette-esque fuglies to come of this one. Ryan Reynolds did offer to work on his marriage to Scarlett Johansson. But it was, you know, hard. “At first it was … let’s fix this,” a source tells People, the magazine that just crowned 34-year-old Ryan their first Canadian Sexiest Man Alive last month. “And then it got to the point where it was just, if it’s not working, it’s not working. He’s an adult, and he finally just said they should stop.” That is probably the loveliest, most heartfelt way I’ve ever heard a celebrity say, “I dumped her.” The Ryan-friendly sources at People magazine note that the couple’s eight-year age difference contributed to the split. “She’s young (26), and that played into how she’s able to deal with things,” a source told People. That might explain why Us Weekly reports that four days before announcing their split, Scarlett was seen “screaming” into her phone at her apartment building in Manhattan, and “referring to someone as a ‘jerk’.”

She was separated four days later, not that anyone is saying she was calling Ryan a jerk. Just strongly implying.Scarlett’s currently tanning the pain away on a vacation in Jamaica with friends. Ryan’s decided to wait for Scarlett to file divorce papers, People reports, but since she’s still wearing her wedding ring, she doesn’t appear to be in a huge rush. So it looks like this breakup has reached a stalemate that won’t be thawed without the help of some really attractive rebounds. Any takers on who that might be? Anyone? Anyone?

Yes, life is rough when you are one of the pretty people, as Scarlett Johansson is seen here being flanked by both Dolce and Gabbana earlier this year at the elite Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, an event often referred to as the Oscars of fashion. And this event in April occurred only days after Scarlett announced an engagement with long time boyfriend, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. Being a heavy Barack Obama supporter, there was much talk that Scarlett wanted to wait until after the elections in November to tie the knot with Ryan, but it sounds like Ryan may have convinced her otherwise. Scarlett and Ryan made their commitment official, and permanent in the ‘till death do us part’ way by getting married in a secret and intimate wedding this weekend. The couple got married in Vancouver, Ryan’s home town, at a wilderness resort on Saturday. And it was one of the more intimate celebrity weddings with only immediate family in attendance. It’s nice to see that this wasn’t going to be one of those prolonged engagements that extend to the point where you really wonder if it’s ever going to happen, because once she made the comment about the elections taking precedence, I had my doubts about these two. But they are happier than ever, as they should be, and we wish them nothing but the best. Many congrats out to Scarlett and Ryan!

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are now together as they say. The two were spotted at Damnwells’ show @ the Troubadour in West Hollywood. The two arrived separately, but greeted each other with a hug and a kiss.

According to People magazine:

“In the foyer they were talking and had their hands all over each other,” says the source. “He kissed her a couple more times in the club. He was totally sweet. She went to the restroom and he went to check up on her.”
