Heath Ledger Struggled With Drugs

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

As you can see from this video tapped interview… taken only 2 months ago, Heath Ledger was clearly under the influence of drugs. While the true cause of his tragic death is still unknown, whether it was from an accidental overdose of sleeping pills or suicide, Heath Ledger was covering up a drug dependency… that is now being pushed to the forefront. An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. His drug habit could be a big contributing factor to his untimely death. It’s speculated that Heath may also have been suffering from depression. Eeriely, an article published in the NY Times delved deep into this:

He tends to do that. He is here in London filming the latest episode of the “Batman” franchise, “The Dark Knight.” (Mr. Bale, as it happens, plays Batman; Mr. Ledger plays the Joker.) It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

Even as he spoke, Mr. Ledger was hard-pressed to keep still. He got up and poured more coffee. He stepped outside into the courtyard and smoked a cigarette. He shook his hair out from under its hood, put a rubber band around it, took out the rubber band, put on a hat, took off the hat, put the hood back up. He went outside and had another cigarette. Polite and charming, he nonetheless gave off the sense that the last thing he wanted to do was delve deep into himself for public consumption. “It can be a little distressing to have to overintellectualize yourself,” is how he put it, a little apologetically.

If only someone could have put the pieces of the puzzle together sooner. But, hindsight is 20/20.

Heath Ledger Dies @ 28

Actor Heath Ledger was declared dead today @ 3:30pm. He was found in a Lower Manhatten apartment that was owned by Mary-Kate Olsen. According to the NYPD, over-the-counter sleeping pills were found in the vicinity of the bed. It is being looked at as a possible overdose, but it is yet to be confirmed. Heath was found unresponsive by the housekeeper who had gone to wake him up for an appointment with a masseuse in the Soho building. He was 28, had a 2 year old daughter, Matilda, with actress Michelle Williams, and was scheduled to play the Joker in the Batman film later this year.

“He was just so respected in the industry,” said Kim Serafin, senior editor of In Touch Weekly.

“It’s just horribly tragic. He was just a fine actor and a good person, so this is horribly sad and very unexpected.” ~ CNN

Wow, my hands are shaking while gulping my cup of tea. I didn’t think that Heath Ledger’s passing would shock and sadden me so… but, it did. RIP Heath, you will be missed.
