Here we have the ever so suave Sean Penn and his beautiful wife as they pose all pretty like on the red carpet last night shortly before the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Oh yes, in Hollywood they seem to replace Winter with Awards Season as with the Globes, SAGs, Emmy’s, and Oscars, the stars are alight with the sound of the phrase ‘and the winner is…’. And in the case of the SAGs last night, Sean Penn emerged a big winner, as did the ever so fabulous Meryl Streep. The win for Streep was a bit of a surprise to many, as the award was expected to go to Kate Winslet after she took the Golden Globe for the Best Actress category. In fact, the surprise was one even for Meryl, who humbly noted that she was so not expecting this that she ‘didn’t even buy a dress’ and wore a simple black pants ensemble to the awards. Yes, you have to know that you are THAT big in Hollywood when you don’t even care enough to dress your very best at the Screen Actors Guilds. At any rate, the win for Penn was not that much a surprise, as he is the predicted winner for the Best Actor category for his stunning performance as a gay man in ‘Milk’. Yes, it is being said that he will even beat out Brad Pitt for his work in ‘Benjamin Button’ in this category, but that’s what happens when you toss in the controversial gay topic. Maybe next time, Brad. And Sean was duly humbled by the win, saying in his speech:

“as actors, we don’t play gay/straight … we play human beings. This is a story about equal rights for all human beings.”

And again, Sean was a little surprised at the award, given that this year’s biggest comeback was Mickey Rourke, who has to date been beating him out in this category. So I can’t help but wonder, what the heck is going to happen at the Oscars? In days gone by, the Golden Globes have been very effective predictors for the Academy evening, but now we are seeing some surprises and mixed messages with Meryl/Kate and Sean/Mickey….And yet another surprise with a big winner was when ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won the SAG for the Outstanding Cast category. Many predicting afficonados are claiming this foreshadows a probable Best Picture Oscar win, and given that Slumdog is up for 10, second only to Benjamin Button, they may just be right here. Lindsay Lohan is seen here leaving home and on her way to the Beverly Medical Center to get attention to what looks like a bruise on her left hand. And, Lilo has been getting some heat lately, or at least her relationship with her girlfriend Sam Ronson has been as a lot of squabbling and couples counselling has been in the reports these days. And interestingly enough, Lilo is generally followed by a throng of paps so on this day, some of the media managed to get a shot of her recycling bin only to see what appeared to be a broken plate. Hmmm….Could a broken plate be symbolic of trouble in paradise? Or could a broken plate be really just that, a broken plate? Well, we won’t make too much of THAT, but we will make a bit of the fact that Lindsay was seen in public getting a little too cosy with a former friend, Sean Penn. Yes, the word ‘nuzzled’ was used, whatever that means. Lindsay, who is 22, and Sean, or is more than twice that age, are old time friends. They used to party together during Lilo’s nasty days when she was sobriety challenged. Her other entourage at the time included the likes of Tim Robbins and Jude Law, and before arriving in New York from Los Angeles, Lilo let her friends know she was heading over to **** Jude Law. Nice! Should we take a break so we can all go have a shower? Guess Jude wasn’t around, so she set her sights on Sean, and though we don’t know if it went any further than nuzzling, do you think this may be related to the broken plate? Hmmm….Sean is of course still married to Robin Wright Penn, so maybe even there are a few broken plates around the Penn household as a result. And by all looks, Lilo is still living with Sam so may still be committed to that relationship. Or, at least committed to blogging about it on MySpace. Enter the most recent journaling:

all in all-[the paparazzi] should just stop asking altogether [where Sam is], once and for all if she and i are broken up because frankly, if we ever ever did…. i would say it before they could even think of asking. i’d say it here probably…”

Sean Penn and Madonna are just two of those people that will always just have a connection no matter where their lives take them. Yes, they had a hot and heavy roller coaster marriage thing going back in the day, and even today the two share intimate details with each other. Just recently, Sean got the urge to pop Madonna a text after he experienced his first gay kiss. But no, Sean isn’t gay. He had to kiss his co-star James Franco in his new movie ‘Milk’ and he wanted Madonna to hear ALL about it. Of course, Madonna has plenty of experience there, just ask Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera, so I guess he thought he would bond with her over yet another shared experience. But Sean didn’t want anyone to know about his texty text as it was co-star James that revealed it after seeing the text to Madonna that said:

I just popped my cherry kissing a guy. I thought of you. I don’t know why

Awww….Sean still thinks of Madonna, even when he is kissing MEN. Weird! As for his role in ‘Milk’ it sounds like it’s a pretty racy one. With another co-star, Mark Martinez, Sean has to get hot and heavy there as well. Mark plays a cross-dressing disco singer in the film, and said the kiss between them seemed to last ‘forever’.

I’m performing, and Sean comes onto the dance floor. He grabs me, and he just slaps the biggest kiss on me. It felt like the kiss was forever. I’m like, ‘Is he going to stop?’ I had to close my eyes, I just couldn’t believe it!”

Huh. So Sean is enjoying these new experiences it seems one after the other. Interesting. But not in the least surprising.
