Katie Holmes has been burning the candle at both ends these days, with jet setting between L.A. and New York. In L.A. she’s been attending the premiere of ‘Tropic Thunder’ and then zooming back to New York the following day to continue rehearsals for her Broadway work in ‘All My Sons’. She is seen here enjoying some swing time with her daughter Suri, and while by all appearances she is hanging on tight to the little one, it may be her marriage that she is truly trying to cling to. By all accounts the Cruise marriage is hanging by a thread due to many factors, one of which being Katie acting as an East Coaster for the time being. Katie and Tom were last seen at the premier of Tropic Thunder, and though they were all smiles, there may be bigger issues underneath. Cruise plays a small role in Thunder, and it may just be this fact that is causing a rift as we all know in Tinseltown, size matters when it comes to roles. Katie may be feeling the crunch of being the primary breadwinner in a family that expects nothing less than the best, and as her career skyrockets, Tom’s seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Add that to the fact that due to her career, Katie missed an important scientology convention in Los Angeles, and all reports indicate that control freak Cruise was less than impressed. Tom’s dwindling career combined with his scientology obsession may slowly be moving him off the A-list in Hollywood and having a significant effect on his former ‘heartthrob’ status that Katie initially was attracted to. Is Katie Holmes about to be a single mom? I know many that wouldn’t be too disappointed by that fact, and by all accounts, she seems to handle life with much more grace alone, now that she IS a big time star. Time will tell now, won’t it?

It is no secret that Hollywood is one of the most competitive places on earth, and it is not just restricted to the A-listers and their wannabes. With the recent Baby Boom in Tinseltown, the competitive factor has trickled down to the next generation, with stars and celebs vying for a spot on the cutest or best dressed baby list. Seems a few have made the cut, with Suri Cruise topping the list for OK Magazine’s Hollywood’s Best Dressed Baby, where she beat out the likes of Violet Affleck and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, among many others. Shiloh ranks #2 as Best Dressed, Violet takes third place, and the rest of the top 10 company includes Willow Smith (7 year old daughter to Jada and Will), Reese Witherspoon’s 8 year old Ava, Matilda Ledger, and Harlow Madden. Of noted interest is that baby Aguilera didn’t seem to make the list, which is interesting because she’s become known as the most competitive baby mama in Hollywood. Oops, guess you need to do some shopping, Christina. But Suri has proved that her well-bred A, B, C’s – Armani, Burberry, and Christian Louboutin, have been instilled perfectly which earns her the top spot. And given that she’s seen munching on some raisins and a cereal bar, perhaps her next trophy will be for the healthiest eater as well. I gotta say, this is one little tot that gets cuter every minute, so couple that with a fashion icon mama, this is of NO surprise to me.

The Becks and the Cruises are of course BFF so the Cruises are sitting in the Beckham box with all of the Beckham tykes as well. Katie is looking calm despite the bustling brood around her, and that may be because she’s just signed on to do some work on Broadway. Katie will be joining John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, and Patrick Wilson in the Broadway revival of ‘All My Sons’ by Arthur Miller. Katie is psyched, in fact she wanted to do stage work long before she hit Tinseltown and spent her high school years as the lead in every musical. For Broadway lovers, keep your eyes out for Mrs. Cruise’s Broadway debut.

If I had to pick two celebrities that I would never put together in the same room, never mind for a social occasion, I think that Tom Cruise and Jerry Seinfeld would be a good pair for that list. But yes, it’s true. And I’m actually laughing out loud now because of that cat and mouse cartoon by Hanna-Barbera. You guessed it… Tom and Jerry! So who is the cat and who is the mouse in this picture, DUH. On Tuesday night, the friends went out on a double date for a 3 hour dinner @ the exclusive Upper East Side eatery Sfoglia. The next night, Tom and Suri paid a visit to Seinfeld’s garage to take a look at his car collection. Perhaps Tom was filling in his recruiting hours and was trying to get Seinfeld into the alien, I mean Scientology, zone. Well, apparently he doesn’t have to try too hard. According to People magazine:

“I [Seinfeld] did some Scientology courses about 30 years ago,” the comedian told Access Hollywood while promoting his Bee Movie. “I didn’t do very much. I don’t know that much, I just did a little but I liked it.”

However, Jerry’s rep tells People:

“He is not studying Scientology in any way at this time,” his rep tells PEOPLE. “He did attend a course 30 years ago that he found interesting but he is Jewish and not changing his religion or faith in any direction.”

Wow, as if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes don’t have enough to worry about! Right, their life is that difficult, right? But now a biography written by Andrew Morton, biographer to the late Princess Diana, has come out making some rather startling allegations against Tom Cruise. The biography is on Tom, but the leaks are focusing on his rather incensed devotion to the Church of Scientology. The book is saying that Tom is in fact the 2IC at the Church, as in, second in command. References are made to Suri being somewhat of a ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ or, in layman’s terms, Devil’s Child. Morton seemingly based his biography on interviews with staff at the Cruise household, so what do you think? I mean, who really knows this man better than the people that work for him. But the oddest allegations are his bizarre relationship with the head of the Church, David Miscavige. It seems Miscavige consults Tom on all that is Scientology and even….(brace yourself)….joined him on his honeymoon after his wedding with Katie Holmes. Yep. That’s almost weirder than the bunker designed to escape the alien guy. Almost. But Tom is denying all of it and of course of course, there is a lawsuit in the works on this very subject seeking $50 million. Oh wait a second, weren’t we just talking about Tommy’s money problems just the other day? Hmmmm.

Here are Tom Cruise, Suri and Katie Holmes at the Spice Girls concert in LA’s Staples Center. This past Wednesday night’s show was the Spice Girl’s second sold-out concert. How cute is Suri and Beck’s boy! David Beckham acted like quite the hands-on family man as he made some Cotton Candy for the kids. It’s amazing how successful the reunited British pop group is.! I was at my local movie store the other day and the woman in front of me wanted to take out Spice World. The movie teller dude told her that the movie Spice World wasn’t in stock anymore, but that she was the sixth person that day who had asked for it. Ouch! In other Suri related news, she was spotted with mum shopping at The Grove in Beverly Hills this past Friday.

You can’t see anything with Katie Holmes or Tom Cruise these days that does not include their gorgeous little Suri bean. But has anyone remembered that Tom Cruise has other children with Nicole Kidman as well? Maybe by giving his support financially he feels he is being a ‘good father’ and is spending the rest of his emotional savings on little Suri. He claims however in an interview with Hello! Magazine that he loves all his children equally, but that Suri goes everywhere with them because he wants her to be open to new experiences and to live life with an open mind. He wants her to learn how to ‘celebrate differences’ between them and other people and cultures. That’s interesting coming from a Scientologist. He also said he always wanted to be a father all his life and that there is no difference in his feelings between Suri and his adopted children. But it seems we only get to see him really show those feelings with one child. Huh.

And I have to say this Suri Cruise has got to be getting prettier by the second. LOOK at those gorgeous blue eyes, she will be just as big a heartbreaker as her parents one day. With parents like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes passing off all kinds of pretty genes to the little one, who can be surprised. She looks so happy too, which is surprising considering what she’s drinking. Reports from US Weekly are saying that Suri’s bottle contains barley water, milk, and corn syrup. No, you would definitely not see ME smiling on that concoction. What is THAT about?? It’s another Scientology thing to ward off Xenu perhaps? Who knows. But odd? Definitely.
