The always fabulous looking Katie Holmes is seen here playing up mommy duty while toddler Suri Cruise came to visit her on the set of her latest movie. All reports were that Katie was ecstatic to have some down time on set with her wee precious girl, so why does her furrowed brow seem to contradict such reports? It may be that the tabloids who love to slam this marriage may well be onto something…finally, as it sounds like when hubby Tom Cruise visited the scene, Katie was, well let’s just say less than ecstatic. That might be because there’s only so much charming perfection one woman can take. Nicky Kidman knows what I’m sayin’. Katie Holmes hit her breaking point on the set of her vindictive gnomes horror ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ in Melbourne when Tom wasn’t exactly playing the role of doting husband. Tom Cruise got distracted from his wife by a hoard of autograph-collecting fans.

“Some of the fans called their moms and friends, and Tom was chatting happily with them on their cell phones. The whole time Katie just stood there glaring at him.”

Judging by the above face, Katie’s glare look is pretty fierce. Katie unleashed her fury like she was back at the creek telling Jen to stay away from Dawson. Tom left in a huff, leaving Katie awkwardly alone with the fans. Hopefully she only whispered when she’d said, “You choose these freaking NOBODIES over me?” Well, it is going to be quite some time, if ever, for Katie to reach Nicole Kidman status on the A list, as apparently, being married to Tommy boy just ain’t quite enough anymore.

And though Katie lives a very high profile life as part of one of Hollywood’s most watched couples, she says even so many people have the wrong idea about her. In an interview with the New York Times Style Magazine, Katie discussed a common misperception that people have about her.

There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life. And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong.

Yes it is true that ever since she married Tom Cruise in 2006, it seems that just about anyone that wants to has come out with one statement or another about how ugly their marriage really is. We’ve heard that Tom is a control freak, that Katie has been forced to live under Scientology regime and is living a cult like life, and on and on and on. But Katie says that is not the case. She had a girlhood crush on her hubby Tom, and was surprised during their whirlwind dating life that he was actually a very down to earth person. She says she couldn’t believe how when they were dating he was so warm and thoughtful, and her first thought was ‘wow, you can be a superstar and a human being!’. Yes, it would shock us all to find out that Tom Cruise has human qualities. But she says he made her feel so amazing their entire courtship and this is why she agreed to marry him. And Tom, well, he feels the same about Kate. His side of the story?

“I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her. After our very first date, I was sure. At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I cut her off by changing the subject. I wanted to ask her.”

But does Katie miss the good ol days when life was anonymous almost and she was just the cute girl from Dawson’s Creek? Not at all. Of course, let’s keep in mind that she would never say so if she did. She says simply that her life has expanded, and her new friends and family are all a part of this bigger life she has. She maintains her happy sweet smile by tuning out what the world has to say about her, and says that she has too much to do to worry about the incessant chatter from the world. She’s a mom, an actress, and appears on stage every night and ‘can’t pay attention to all that noise’. But well, she can’t be too busy, or be tuning it out all together if she knows that the chatter on her life is there at all, can she? Uh no, didn’t think so either.

And I am not sure what is going on with this look here, it seems that Katie is trying to revive some kind of grunge look with a little bit of glam. We have an ‘80s style here with rolled cuffs and heels that is just not sitting well with me. But it may be looks like this that are what kept her off the Best Dressed list this year. Katie however apparently has other things to think about, as she has been working hard all summer preparing for her role in ‘All My Sons’ and the hit show opened last night on Broadway with a little bit of tension for Katie. It is no secret that she is heavy in the Scientology thing what with her marriage to Tom Cruise, and many of her friends, and fans, have been trying to get her out of it. Approximately twenty of these so called fans showed up for opening night on Broadway in true activist form. They called themselves ‘Anonymous’ and picketed Broadway’s opening night wearing masks and brandishing signs such as ‘Scientology is a cult’, ‘Run Katie Run’ and ‘Free Katie, Keep Tom’. There always seems to be one protestor louder than the rest, doesn’t there, and one of them specifically said ‘We are not boycotting Katie, we are not boycotting the play, we are protesting against Scientology’. Oh ok. Protestors were making statements such as ‘Scientology kills people’ ‘it’s perverted’, ‘it follows you home at night’ and so on and so forth. Tom Cruise of course was on hand to brave the mobs and support his wife in her opening night performance. He attended the event with Rainman co-star Dustin Hoffman and afterwards beamed and glowed for his wife’s efforts calling the show and her performance ‘Extraordinary. By the time the show was done however, the protestors crowd had grown to over 150, and the group ‘Anonymous’ described themselves as a ‘leaderless worldwide group of concerned citizens’. They have also staged protests at the Scientology Center in New York City and have been picketing outside the New Village Academy, a private school in Calabasas, California that is funded by Will Smith and his wife Jada. Gotta love it when protestors are so vehement about their position they don’t even have the stones to name themselves and hide behind anonymity. I am sure Tom and Katie had a good laugh about all of it.

Katie Holmes has been burning the candle at both ends these days, with jet setting between L.A. and New York. In L.A. she’s been attending the premiere of ‘Tropic Thunder’ and then zooming back to New York the following day to continue rehearsals for her Broadway work in ‘All My Sons’. She is seen here enjoying some swing time with her daughter Suri, and while by all appearances she is hanging on tight to the little one, it may be her marriage that she is truly trying to cling to. By all accounts the Cruise marriage is hanging by a thread due to many factors, one of which being Katie acting as an East Coaster for the time being. Katie and Tom were last seen at the premier of Tropic Thunder, and though they were all smiles, there may be bigger issues underneath. Cruise plays a small role in Thunder, and it may just be this fact that is causing a rift as we all know in Tinseltown, size matters when it comes to roles. Katie may be feeling the crunch of being the primary breadwinner in a family that expects nothing less than the best, and as her career skyrockets, Tom’s seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Add that to the fact that due to her career, Katie missed an important scientology convention in Los Angeles, and all reports indicate that control freak Cruise was less than impressed. Tom’s dwindling career combined with his scientology obsession may slowly be moving him off the A-list in Hollywood and having a significant effect on his former ‘heartthrob’ status that Katie initially was attracted to. Is Katie Holmes about to be a single mom? I know many that wouldn’t be too disappointed by that fact, and by all accounts, she seems to handle life with much more grace alone, now that she IS a big time star. Time will tell now, won’t it?

And as per usual, it is easy to see where the height advantage is here. Katie not only has a few inches on her hubby, but when you throw a pair of killer heels on her, the towering effect is even more obvious. Good thing though that Tom doesn’t seem to mind, mind you, this is a man who probably has more confidence than he needs. Funny though that Katie would get glammed up for the event and Tom shows up in pressed jeans and an open shirt, but again, that’s cockiness for you. Or maybe that’s just me. Katie has been making news of late with her recent work on Broadway, and has been spending most of her time in New York preparing for as much, but these two as a couple have not seemed to make too many headlines. Until now that is, as it sounds like Tom is going to take his leading lady to the big screen with him. The two will star in a new comedy called ‘Food Fight’, the story of an arrogant New York chef who will be forced to cook in a school cafeteria. I wonder who will play the arrogant man, hm? The thought of Tom Cruise in a comedy is an interesting one though…There is no official word on this, all speculation at this point. Universal Pictures says about the pair working together ‘Definitely maybe’ while the script writer Adam Brooks is not confirming one way or another. If it goes ahead, this will not be the first time Tom goes to the big screen with his love, he will just be doing it a little backwards this time. He met his first wife Nicole Kidman on the set of ‘Days of Thunder’ and then later worked with her on ‘Far and Away’ and ‘Eyes Wide Shut’. He also met one of his ex-girlfriends, Penelope Cruz, on the set of ‘Vanilla Sky’. If this goes forward, it will definitely be interesting to see the on-screen chemistry of this couple, but again, a comedy with Tom Cruise just almost doesn’t make sense to me. We’ll see!

Ah yes, the birth of all of these Hollywood babies is bringing out the love in everyone….even for the ex-spouses of the new mamas. Just to show how magnamonious they are, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have overextended themselves in a way to show how happy they are for Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s new little princess Sunday Rose. Original reports were that Tom and Katie were falling all over themselves to bestow love on the new arrival, and that Tom had sent his ex-wife a ‘room full of flowers’. Seems that wasn’t the case, but Tom and Katie have teamed up to send a gift from the both of them. And of course, it is designer rated and includes high-end baby products. The couple sent a huge baby basket over to Nashville to show their congratulations, a basket that included chenille Giraffe baby blankets, and items from the Hermes baby line. Because every new baby needs a Birken I guess, or at least to get a jump start on the waiting list. But it’s nice to see that even the most bitter exes who once spewed hatred at each other can grit their teeth and smile and offer blessings to the newborn. How big of them. Oh and yes, it’s great publicity too!
