Many fans of America’s Next Top Model may not be aware that while one season airs, another is being run, and so this past week was quite the charged one for folks at ANTM. As this cycle is airing, ANTM is running round the world auditioning for next season’s hopefuls, and things got a little ugly this week for the New York City audition. Were they auditioning for ANTM or Girls Gone Wild, who knows, but quite a hubaloo was raised. In this week’s audition, one day of auditioning began with the usual charged excitement that accompanies ANTM auditions, but ended with six injuries and three arrests. The arrests were based on disorderly conduct and riot induction through the audition, as the girls got a little catty. Thousands of women appeared for the New York Casting Call that was held at the Park Central New York Hotel. In the lineup, a brawl broke out with 3 arrests and 6 injuries ending the day. Two of the injuries were sent to hospital, and the remaining 4 refused treatment. Outside of sheer cattiness, the police can’t say exactly how the fight was caused, and ANTM is still working with investigators on the situation. Two women and one man were the 3 arrests and charged with starting a riot and disorderly conduct. The man at some point rushed into the crowd in an effort to steal the girls’ handbags. After the brawl, auditions were cancelled and the girls were sent home, with a scene that was left that has been described as a littering of shoes and clothes on the streets of New York. But they would have been small shoes, mind you, as this cycle’s auditions are only being opened to women 5’7” or shorter, as Tyra adds a new twist to ANTM as a reflection of her desire to challenge the fashion industries conventions. As a side note on this twist, I’m not thrilled about it. From a ‘breaking the mold’ standpoint, I see what she is trying to do and I applaud that. But as far as this working in fashion? Anyone that knows runway knows the tall girls prevail. Just ME though! On the incident however, Tyra released a statement to her short little model hopefuls:

“To all the Top Model hopefuls who were affected by the New York casting, we are doing everything we can to make sure that ALL the girls who weren’t seen, get an opportunity to audition – we’ll update you on our plans very soon. It is so important to me to redefine beauty, and make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to pursue their dream. I am beyond excited for Cycle 13; for the first time ever, young women 5’7″ and under have a shot at becoming America’s Next Top Model! I encourage each girl to come out ready to rock the runway and show off their fiercest pose. I’m rooting for all of you!”

Yes, it seems that in some cases opposites really DO attract. Though I have never had any harsh feelings towards either of these two starlets, I would never have put them together when it comes to music. But it seems that the forces may come together. And this has more to do with Kelly Clarkson’s country roots than Carrie Underwoods, believe it or not. Kelly Clarkson as we all know grew up in Texas and wanted to be a star. Blah blah…Now that she’s grown up on country tunes, she is living in Nashville and wants to strengthen her country ties. Can this be so for this pop princess?

“I never know what I’m gonna do in the future, but I grew up loving country music. It’s one of the things that’s been really close to me. I did a lot of country events, so I think people were thinking I was gonna [record a country album]. But the thing I love about pop music is that you can kind of incorporate any style you want …There’s always gonna be those influences in my music, but I’ll probably never just do one thing. I would be bored out of my mind.”

Besides growing up on it, Kelly is no stranger to country. She spent most of last year touring with Reba McEntire, and would do it again with America’s country princess, Carrie Underwood. Kelly thinks Carrie’s voice is ‘kick butt’ and is a huge fan. Now this would be an interesting combination, and I will be very excited to see how it turns out, should it ever, but you know what they say in Hollywood. When people say they are ‘thinking’ about something, it’s usually in the works. Remember how Ashlee Simpson said she was ‘thinking’ about getting pregnant?

Lauren aka ‘Lo’ Bosworth is seen here joining a host of celebrities while they party hearty at the popular L.A. hotspot the Crown Bar. And what we know of Lauren is that she is one of the more opinionated girls of The Hills and she is never afraid to speak her mind, or purse her lips accordingly when she finds someone doing something she disapproves of. Ah yes, we all know that ‘hm.’ she gives when someone says something she finds a little out of sorts, and you can’t help but wonder what is going through her head when she gives the disapproving tsk tsk. My, what a great mom Lo will make one day! And with this quality in her that we have all come to know and love, she has vocalized some thoughts on the Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag marriage. She says she was surprised to learn that her costars on The Hills got married in Mexico in a private ceremony, and did so after an evening of champagne and tequila. On The Hills: Live After the Show Monday night, Lauren said:

“I always thought they were going to get married. I just didn’t know when. I thought she always wanted a big, beautiful event wedding in L.A. I was surprised it turned out the way it did actually.”

On the show, Lauren told the world that she heard of the Montag marriage at the same time, and in the same way that we all did, on the Internet. She was very surprised by the alcohol fuelled chain of events when she saw the show air where Spencer had suggested that he and Heidi get married after they had been in the Patron all night. After they had discussed the idea, the two even ordered more Patron, as Heidi so eloquently put it, ‘you know what Patron does to me, it gets me crazy.’ Lauren thought it was hysterical that Heidi needed some tequila to make the final call, the Patron push she called it. She wasn’t too sure if she was drunk when they actually got married, but knows they were the night before when the decision was made. But at the end of the day, Lo does believe that regardless of the how’s or the why’s, that Heidi and Spencer will be married forever. Tough to say when you are dealing with a control freak and a girl that doesn’t seem to make her own decisions, but again, for this very reason this could be a match made in heaven.

We all heard about the tragic incident that occurred outside Paula Abdul’s home not that long ago, when an obsessed fan and Idol reject committed suicide. When the situation happened, Paula was not at home, and we didn’t hear too much actually about how she felt about the situation, until now. Paula is more than a little unnerved over the situation, as anyone would be, and says she has been staying in different homes and hotels since the incident with round the clock security. She found the whole thing very tragic and upsetting, and of course, there is more to the story than we once heard. Paula Goodspeed, the fan and suicide victim in question, was mentally unstable and this was not the first time that she had attempted suicide. And, if you want to know the timing of things with Idol, the incident which happened 3 weeks ago, occurred during the infamous Hollywood Week of the American Idol competition. While Paula was working at the Kodak Theater and taping the show, Paula Goodspeed was outside her home overdosing on pills. Producers of American Idol were informed of the situating during the taping, and informed Paula Abdul of the situation after taping for the day had been finished. So Paula has been throwing herself into work with the new Idol season, and a newly taped MTV cheerleading squad competition called ‘Rah!’, as well as a Forever Your Girl accessories line she will be launching on HSN December 13th. And if that isn’t keeping her busy enough, she is also looking for a new place to live. A choice you can’t really blame her for. As far as the obsession between the victim and Paula are concerned, Paula says she would love to dish about it, but because there is an ongoing police investigation, she needs to hold her tongue. In fact, she can’t say anything at all about the Goodspeed obsession, though producers and those close to Idol are well aware of the years of stalking that Paula Abdul endured by this one girl. There were flowers sent to Paula just before the suicide, and Goodspeed would follow Paula from season to season and city to city during the Idol tours and auditions. But this isn’t the first time Paula has been the victim of an obsessed fan, as she told People Magazine about another rather bizarre situation that happened in 1993:

“this gentleman was writing letters everyday from prison saying he was getting out in 120 days, then 119 days, all the way down to he’s getting out and he’s coming to get my mom and I. Thank God we were in Canada for my touring, and after that we were in Washington and he made a threat against the President, so he’s in jail for the rest of his life, but he had tattoos of me all over his body.”

Once she finishes the touring with Idol and launches her accessories line, Paula is taking a much needed vacation. She says she is going so far away that nobody will be able to find her. We can’t imagine how stressful this has been for Paula, but we certainly hope she finds the R & R she needs and is back smiling for us in no time.

I almost want to say that well, hell has frozen over, but I guess we’ve seen this coming. Oh yes, we all cringed when they got engaged, and have been in a state of frozen cringe ever since, but the inevitable has happened. Yes, Spencer Pratt finally coerced Heidi into attaching herself to him in the most permanent and legally binding way by marrying Heidi in a private elopement this past weekend. And when we say private, we mean private, as not even Heidi’s family was made aware.

For those of you that follow The Hills, you may have seen Heidi’s sister Holly on the After Show last night, where she tearfully stated that she was a little hurt by the whole thing but will always be there for Heidi no matter what. Oh yes, Holly flew into the studio to film the After Show not having a clue about Heidi’s nuptials, and when she got off the plane her phone was bombarded with the news that Heidi and Spencer were on the cover of US proudly showing off their newlywedded bliss. Yeah, that’s gotta sting. But nobody knew anything, which seemingly may all boil down to more of Spencer’s control and hideousness.

This is just one of those stories with weird and sad twists. We heard earlier this week that a body had been found outside American Idol judge Paula Abdul’s home, and the story has gone from bad to worse since that report. The body has been identified as Paula Godspeed and it has come to light that this Paula Godspeed was an obsessed fan of Paula Abdul’s and committed suicide outside her home. In fact, Paula has been stalking Abdul for as many as 17 years and touted herself as Abdul’s biggest fan. And this was a fan in the ‘over the edge’ kind of way. Paula Godspeed did however get her fifteen minutes of fame and even got to meet her idol when she appeared in front of her idol and hero for an American Idol audition. If you have memories of a particularly dreadful Proud Mary audition in 2006, then you too will remember Paula Godspeed. This same Paula Godspeed had been reported by her parents on Tuesday night as missing. And well, her parents knew just how bad the stalking was, as Paula Abdul’s address had been given to the authorities as a possible lead. But the police department may not have even needed this information, as Paula’s stalking was no secret to them, and a previous report on Godspeed had been filed on June 24th saying that an overdose would not be unexpected, and that, based on material they found in her home, they had been given ‘information that she may be suicidal’. Paula was found in her Toyota outside Paula Abdul’s gated estate. A picture of Paula Abdul was hanging from the mirror, and Godspeed’s license plate reads ‘ABL LV’ which is presumed to mean ‘Abdul Love’. Because the stalking had been going on for 17 years, it is also presumed that Paula Abdul knew about the woman. As we know, celebrity stalking is not an unfamiliar concept. A Dr. Abrams, that analyzed the case after Paula had been identified stated that the stalking involves a personality disorder where an individual psychologically ties themselves to a star in order to become famous themselves. She says:

“Fans become a danger to themselves or others when they feel like they have a special relationship with an entertainer. By killing that person or killing themselves in front of them, that brings them attention and they’ll always be linked with them in some way.”

Paula Godspeed decided to become a danger to herself with this problem she was dealing with, and a bottle of prescription medication was found in her car. Nothing more is being said about the suicide at this point. Paula Abdul was not at home at the time that the body was found, and given the nature of the disorder, she may not have been home intentionally, BECAUSE of this woman. That we will never find out, though Abdul has released a statement that she is extremely saddened by the situation.
